I started reading this book, and so far it is really good. It seems like a great story. Last semester I took a Chinese histoy course, and this fits in well. I'm really excited to be reading it.

Really? I've been trying to decide whether or not to buy it. Let me know if it continues to be good!

I'm really liking it because i'm linking it back to my history class. The foot binding, and confucian family and village. I find it really interesting.

I didnĀ“t like Lily very much, the history and the nu shu code are very interesting but I think the book had more potential.

I really liked that book too. Though the description of the foot-binding was almost more than I could read.

I finished the book today, and it was great! There are so many things about the novel that I ejoyed. I loved the historical part of the novel, I loved the cultural aspect, and the friendship. I loved Lily's relationship with her husband, Children, and laotong. There are so many things that I liked about the novel. I recommend it to everyone.

I managed to find a lone copy of this shoved behind some other books at K-mart today for a mere $14.95 (it would have cost me $26.95 to order from the book store) so I broke my shopping fast and bought it. Can't wait to get started on it but have to finish special topics in calamity physics first.
