Sounds fun! Sadly, I don't have the time. It would be nice to have these book club books happening again, though!

How's the reading going? I'll finish reading part 1 while eating dinner, I have only a few pages left. Sounds fun! Sadly, I don't have the time. It would be nice to have these book club books happening again, though! We'll plan another discussion when we finish this one.

Ok, I'll start with part 1. I've just finished it, so I hope my thoughts aren't too confused. I really like this book so far. Although it's been on my TBR list for ages, I didn't have any expectations...and I'm glad of that. I find interesting the way the story is told, with (frequent) changes of narrators and not in chronological order. For me, that was a bit confusing at first, especially because I'm quite busy now and it takes my a while to get into what I'm reading. However, I got used to it and now I really like the changes of narrators and settings, they give an interesting pacing to the story. What do you think of the characters? At first I thought that both Leo and Alma were ok, but then I started to sympathize more with them. I feel like there's still A LOT I don't know! I don't know about you guys, but sometimes I have the impression that I don't know exactly what's going on in the story, like I have missed something important (I even went back to read a few passages a couple of times..). That makes me very curious the read the rest of the book! I can't wait to hear you thoughts!

The beginning of The History of Love left me pretty much the same way, Lu. I grew fond of the characters, especially Leo, he just seems so cute, but my head went like that Grease song, "Tell me more, tell me more!" That's gotta be a sign of good writing though, at least if we actually get to know more...

This was actually one of the books I found time to read during my first year of teaching. I absolutely loved it. I agree with some of the above comments that it was a little difficult to follow at first, especially since I could only read a little bit at night. I think it was definitely worth any confusion, though.
