Which contemporary novel would you like to read and discuss next?
Here are some suggestions from my TBR pile:
The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards Bel Canto by Ann Patchett The Red Tent by Anita Diamant The Road by Cormac McCarthy This History of Love by Nicole Krauss

I already read The Road, I think it'd be a good book to discuss. The other books are all on my tbr list. I've also a suggestion from my tbr pile: Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami.

I've been meaning to read Bel Canto for such a long time...Like, 5 years. So I'd love to read that.
Also, I've a book called Charity Girl by Michael Lowenthal from the library for awhile now. It takes place during WWI, so it's sort of a historical fiction. But considering how much I participated in All Quiet on the Western Front discussion (SO BUSY) I can't say that I should get to choose one lol
(I'm still working on AQotWF! I love it, but I just didn't have the time until...today to really read some more of it.)

Since most of the people who replied to this thread seem to be interested in reading Bel Canto, shall we just go ahead with that one?

I'm not sure if I'll be able to participate (I have uni exams in January and February) but I'm going to borrow it from library anyway. Belcanto is in the same library as The Little Girl who was too Fond of Matches I'll check out both.
