Hey, I was just wondering, do you have music on when you're reading? And if so, what do you listen to? What kind of music, and what is your favourite music, band or singer to play while you're reading?
Personally I love to listen to Imogen Heap, because her music is really calm and it doesn't distract me from my reading. I also like to listen to rockmusic, and bands, but I can't really concentrate well if I'm listening to that, only if I'm reading something light or a chick lit.

I don't listen to music when I'm reading but I listen to music when I'm studying. Mostly classical like Mozart. Some (ex Beethoven) is really distracting.

I can listen to almost everything while I'm reading, not something heavy - something like James Blunt, Damien Rice, Colbie Calliat and stuff like that. It gets me in the mood.

I can see where you are coming from, I do prefer classic music (or at least calm music) too. I can listen to almost everything while I'm reading, not something heavy - something like James Blunt, Damien Rice, Colbie Calliat and stuff like that. It gets me in the mood. Wow, lucky. I get distracted and loose my concentration if I listen to that kind of music!

I don't usually listen to any music when I'm reading but I think I'd prefer something calm as well.
I often listen to music while I'm studying, because there are too many noises from the near road and my neighbours are not quiet at all. When I was in high school I noticed that I did get distracted if I listened to music in italian, except while I studied English and I couldn't really listen to music in english!

I can't listen to any music I like when I'm reading, because I tend to sing along to the songs I like and it'll definitely distract me from the book. But, I love to listen to music when I'm studying, it calms me down, and I need it, because I can get very frustrated, while studying some subjects, for example biology and/or chemistry!!!

I love listening to Morrissey when I am studying. John Mayer's Continuum and Joni Mitchel are also great, because they're very calm.

I am the same way when reading--more upbeat music, or usually just music with words, distracts me. So I listen to instrumental music. Sometimes that is classical, but often it is Henry Mancini/Artie Shaw-like.
I use this website called Pandora.com to listen to music. It's like a radio sort of thing. You put in an artist or song you like and it picks similar music and plays it. So if you are near a computer, it's a great way to listen to your favorite music when reading. (And it's good for listening to when you do other stuff as well )

I looked that site up but it said they can no longer provide to countries outside the US! Something about licensing...
