You're right Neh, he was great in "About a boy" And I still remember the scandal it caused in England when they cut his hair for the movie, lol! For BJ2, I'm sure if you were to read it again knowing that it's based on Persuasion, you'd probably appreciate it a lot more. It's even closer to Austen's plot than BJ1 was!

Hugh Grant's name is mentioned somewhere during the book - that's what was sooo weird about it! I had to re-read it to understand that Fielding mentioned both Colin Firth and Hugh Grant and by faith they happened to participate in the movie! haha. Well anyways I heard that they did film that scene when Bridget interviewed him but they added it as a bonus. Has anyone seen it?

Haha, that'd be an interesting interview to see. I've only seen the movie on TV and VHS, so I don't think there were any bonus features. I'll have to check out the DVD.

Yeah, same here, Fanny is so quiet and subdued, she's pretty much everything Bridget isn't! Fanny's also demure, pure and a complete innocent, unlike Bridget, who ends up falling for her cousin ... I can see this storyline going down well for contemporary Bridget audiences! It's so funny to read "Bridget Jones: the Edge of Reason" after having seen both the films! The interview between Bridget and Colin Firth is hilarious, but so utterly cringe-worthy (especially when she doesn't even write the article on time ), but brilliant at the same time! As is the death threat thing. However, I was looking forward to the literary lesbian kiss between Bridget and Rebecca but alas there was none.

See, now I thought it was interesting how the Rebecca in the movie was very different from the Rebecca in the books. I can't remember, but did the jelly-fish Rebecca appear in the original BJD movie? Because then it could get confusing...if there's two Rebeccas in the films and only one in the books.
