I loved this book! 25. Do you think all characters ended up with the love interest they deserve? I agree with zelda too and I wasn't expecting any of the couples either. As Carma, I really like Mr. Knigthley and Emma together and I do think Jane deserved better. I found interesting that Mr.Weston married a ladylike governess and his son married a woman who was about to become a ladylike governess...I never thought of that similarity between Mrs.Weston (Miss Taylor, actually) and Jane Fairfax on my previous readings. 26. How do you like Emma compared to other Jane Austen novels?

26. I Loved Emma. I think it is my favourite Jane Austen book... I like it because there are so many hidden stories in it. It's like Jane Austen was playing a game with the reader

I loved Emma too, I enjoyed the hidden stories, but my favorite Jane Austen is still Pride and Prejudice I do think Emma is a bit different from the other Austen novels.

It's been really quiet in here for the last few days.. ! anyway, Lu and I had some questions for this last section, I'll just post them here, in case someone feels like replying.. 27. Why does it take Emma so long to realize she loves Mr. Knightley? Why is Emma's understanding so rapid once Harriet reveals her own love for him?
28. According to the novel, are Jane Fairfax and Frank Churchill justified in keeping their engagement a secret? What are their prospects for a happy marriage?
29. How do you feel about the idea of a book that has to be reread in order to be enjoyed? Is Emma such a book?
30. Do you like a book in which the writer's intentions are not always clear and there is space for the reader to take charge. Or do you like to know what the writer wants you to be feeling and noticing? thats it, I hope someone replies!

26. How do you like Emma compared to other Jane Austen novels?Mansfield Park was my first Austen and Emma was my second. I liked Emma so much better! Much more entertaining! 27. Why does it take Emma so long to realize she loves Mr. Knightley? Why is Emma's understanding so rapid once Harriet reveals her own love for him?I think she doesn't always have a lot of insight into herself and her own motivations, feelings and actions and this is probably the biggest example of it. She quickly realises when Harriet reveals her feelings because what she feels should be hers (unconsciously) is under threat. I'll have a go at some other questions later today

I finished Emma yesterday. But I didn't like it that much. It was enjoyable, but I found some parts of the story very...boring and exhaustive. The characters fascinated me the most and they kept me reading, but I was glad I finished the book.
