Do you wear your hair down? I think it helps to wear it up, like Dom said and I guess lipstick.. I wear it down, but it's not long. Chin-length. When it was longer, I wore it up because I thought the long hair made me look really young. Everyone says I'll appreciate this when I'm older, but it doesn't do much to help me now. Thanks for all the advice everyone.

People are ALWAYS amazed when they find out I am actually 21. I was with my mom at the pharmacy one time and the lady at the counter thought I was 14. Granted, I was wearing sweatpants and no makeup at the time, but I really cannot believe that people think I'm that young. People my age also always think that I'm only about 17-19. People always think that my 17 year old sister is older than I am, hahaha. Oh well. My mom says I will love it when I am older.
I find that when I wear nicely put-together eyeshadow and eyeliner, it makes me look older. When I dress nicely, it helps as well. My everyday outfit is usually jeans, sweatpants, tshirts, sweatshirts. That's fine for right now, while I'm still in college, but when I get out into a job, I will definitely try to dress very nicely/professionally and put more effort into my appearance.

I have problems with this too. I don't really wear makeup (just some around the eyes) and I think that has a big impact on it. I'm 21 and am still carded for R movies (you have to be 17 to see R movies in theaters here). I'm really worried about my student teaching next semester. I have professional clothes, but I don't think it makes a big difference.

I have problems with this too. I'm 25 and I can easily pass for 18 or 20. I have a funny story about it: I went to a Christmas dinner of the AIC (italian celiacs association) last December and there was this woman who has a son, I felt she was kind of trying to set me up with him, until she said "he's your same age, 16" eeer, I'm actually 24...well, 25 in a month. lol. It's funny because I even have some white hairs! I usually don't wear professional clothes, I do wear my hair up and a little makeup, but it doesn't make much difference. Glasses "add" me a couple of years but I wear them only when I study or read a lot (my left eye has farsightedness and the right one astigmatism, looks like they don't get along very well ;D lol).

That's funny. I've had similar experiences. I worked at an ice cream parlor through high school and college and even ended up managing it before I started law school. Young teenage boys would routinely ask us out while they were there (I guess they couldn't resist a bunch of blondes in poodle skirts). But this continued the entire time I worked there. When I was in my 20s, I finally had to just ask them, "do you know how old I am?!" It was kind of amusing/embarrasing. It's funny because when I was younger, I looked older than my age (probably because I'm tall), but I apparently just haven't aged in 10 years. I watched the show Being Erica last night (I believe it's a Canadian show that Soapnet picked up here) about a girl who is 32 and gets sent back to relive moments in here high school/college life. I commented to Ben that I could totally play that role because I could pass for my age and 16.

The sister that comes right after me (not the youngest, the third one lol) is 2 years younger than me, but people think she's older than me. *It couldn't possibly be because of the heavy make-up, brown tan, and revealing clothing.*(previous sentence in sarcastic tone).
But, like a bunch of you, people tell me it'll be great when I'm 30 and look 25 lol

A woman in her mid to late 40's called me honey in a very condescending way at work last week. Grrr! It's not so bad when they're someone who just says honey and darling and stuff all the time, but it really bugs me when someone who doesn't usually use those words uses them specifically to be condescending, especially when you don't deserve it!
And I was wearing a corporate dress, low heels, makeup, a french twist and glasses, so looking older/professional doesn't help all the time!

Everyone says I look older than I am. I've never been carded at bars or the liquor store!
