How about "The History of Love" by Nicole Krauss, "Bel Canto" by Ann Patchett I second those suggestions, Isa!

The Poisonwood Bible is fantastic, but very long.

I absolutely love The History of Love, I think it could be a great one to discuss too.
I also have Bel Canto, and have been meaning to read it.
I just bought The Poisonwood Bible, and haven't read that yet either.

I'll vote for Poisonwood Bible, I've been wanting to read it forever.

I would suggest breaking the book down into bigger parts. Maybe half way through...It seems like people always read ahead and then the discussion lags since we don't remember that far back.

Yes, but it still seems like dividing the book into smaller sections works best - when we tried with bigger sections or the entire novel, almost no one took part in the discussion...

I'd like to suggest something by Alan Furst like The Foreign Correspondent or Spies of Warsaw. They sound really interesting and are on my TBR list. They're not long, about 250-300 (no more than 300 in those two specific books).

Since we are half way through Pomegranate Soup I thought I would nominate some books for our next book club book. I'm assuming the next book will be a classic.
The Trial The Scarlet Letter The Age of Innocence Tales of the Jazz Age Uncle Tom's Cabin
