Wow 50$ is a lot. It looks like a worthy book though. I have to think it through, lol. I'm sure there were a few really expensive books I bought, I'm just too tired to recall them. Btw, cool thread Kristie!

Like you Kristie, I'm an admirer of Audrey Hepburn's; along with Kathryn Hepburn, she's my favourite actress of all time - past, present, and probably future. So of course I couldn't resist buying the Audrey Hepburn Treasures when I saw it sitting on a shelf in a bookstore once. It's a book that I never really tire of looking at it, or pouring through its pages. Her life story is absolutely fascinating! She was such a terrific person, I can't say enough about her. But I think you actually paid slightly less for it than I did so I'm jealous. Lol

Most expensive (non school) book was the Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx. I think it was around $45ish with tax. Definitely worth it!

The most expensive book I've purchased is collector's edition of Tales of Beedle the Bard. But of course I don't have it yet. I've been wanting this book for a while now: www.amazon.com/Charley-Harper-Illustrated-Life/dp/0978607651/I love Charley Harper's illustrations, and this book is a huge collection of full color drawings. It's a little surprising that I can't think of anything too expensive - considering how many books I buy! I want to buy a signed Vonnegut soon, which I know will be a lot. I want to do it soon too, because the price will just keep going up now that he's not alive to sign anymore. Soon I'll be going to a book signing for one of my favorite photographers, Stephen Shore, and I'll buy his new book, which is normally $40, but Strand's selling for $32. That's pretty expensive for me - but it is a big color book of photos, so worth it I think. I splurged on "Chip Kidd: Book One" which is a big book featuring book covers that Chip Kidd has designed. I can't remember exactly how much it was, but I think it was over $30.

I've got that Audrey Hepburn book, it's ridiculously awesome, I've always loved books with pull-outs but this one's so beautifully put together.

I have to ark(edit. ask) that if I bought a dictionary for fun/interest, does it count? Then the most expensive book would be an English-Estonian dictionary, it was about 70 dollars. Edit: And even though I bought so expensive English-Estonian dictionary, I can't write the word 'ask' correctly.

I bought a big art book once and it was something like 40 euros. I just saw a novel (and not even a thick one ) on sale and the price was still 27 euros. The original price was 35 euros. Too expencive for me...

War and Peace wasn't cheap. And Breaking Dawn wasn't exactly cheap either.[/color]

Books are often expensive in Norway, if you want hardcover it's almost impossible to find anything below 50 dollars. I think the most expensive book I've bought is my Bible, cost me 100 dollars (which is cheap for a Norwegian Bible)

Ooooh I so wanted that Audrey Hepburn book Kristie, but I couldn't afford it when it was in the shops. That's such a gorgeous photo of her on the cover of it.
Ummm.... I haven't really bought any books that are too expensive. Some just paperbacks in Australia can be up to $30 something so they're all expensive to me! Probably just textbooks. My law textbooks cost a fortune every semester, some are over $150 sometimes for one subject.

I got my copy of the collector's edition of Tales of Beedle the Bard today. It was so expensive but I was so happy when I opened it - it's such a nice book that I feel it was worth every penny. I'm so happy that it's so beautiful and gorgeous that I didn't feel ripped off. It's so nice though that I think I'm going to get a regular edition of Tales of Beedle the Bard for reading.

That's great, Emily! I'm gonna try to pick up a copy of the regular edition next time I'm at the mall, I hope they've got it

I spent about $150 on a book once - but it was a hard to find first edition Margaret Atwood, and a graduation gift for my brother (who, if possible, is an even bigger fan than I am).
