I'm reading Night by Elie Wiesel So sad Not just because of the Holocaust (although that's incredibly sad) but because of the way it changed the author's whole outlook on everything -- life, religion. Well, you'll see. So sad! Gruesome actually. Here's to hoping that the book I'm reading now, The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen will be a little more enjoyable.

I'm currently reading (almost finished) 'The Naked Jape: Uncovering the Hidden World of Jokes' by Jimmy Carr & Lucy Greeves.
I've been wanting to read an academic style study on the nature of humour for a while now and, while this one isn't exactly academic (there is a random joke at the bottom of every page) it does look at some of the issues I have been interested in (what IS humour? why do we laugh at the things we laugh at? what makes some things acceptable topics for humour and other things not? the history, psychology, etc, of laughter and comedy). It's quite interesting, not too heavy and I've got some pretty good jokes out of it. Plus recommendations for further reading (some more "serious" humour books.)

adrian mole again, 'weapons of mass destruction' is the title, by sue townsend. It is funny, I think it's better than the one that comes before this book.
