I finished the book last night, I'm in bookaddict's camp, I enjoyed it I had no real expectations going into it, this was deliberate and a think was also because I read the last three in a row right after eachother so there was never time for expectations with any of them. I have mentioned that I have noticed a lot of the criticisms of the Twilight series before and it's true that they can be made. But honestly when it comes down to it I don't really agree with neh about the message behind it, because to be honest I don't think there is a message behind it, I mean not every story has to have a meaning or be morally responsible to young girls or whatever. Of all the things out there that young women consume I Twilight isn't even a blip on the radar. When it comes down to it, it's just trashy entertainment. On the other hand if some women want to get married young, who should stop them? If motherhood is their calling should society attach a stigma to that and say no you HAVE to get a higher education and a career etc etc first? Even if that's not what you want and not what would make you happy? There is a huge attitude against women who want to be homemakers in our society but I think that if that's what's right for them that's what's right for them. Maybe a lot of the bad reactions to the book have something to do with that? Also I don't think Meyer is presenting any of these things as what women need to be happy. Many of them just happen, not due to any direct choice of Bella, but due to the twists and turns of the drama of the series. Bella and Edward don't decide to get pregnant, they didn't even know it was possible to get pregnant. I don't think I would call either Jacob or Edward abusive, I can't think of anything either of them have done that would justify that. Also Bella does have a hobby: reading! Neh is used to me disagreeing with her though lol. In short I think it's just entertainment, it's always been very fanfic ish in it's hyperbole monologues about the character's relationships, it's always had its flaws and I can see them but I can enjoy it for what it is regardless. I think reading too deeply into it is a bit silly and can ruin it for you. That video clip you posted was funny though, I particularly laughed at the werewolf angst bit. SPOILERS: I was surprised at how much sex stuff was in there though, even though Meyer never went into the grizzly details. The birth scene was so intense I felt a bit funny in the stomach after the spinal chord crack. I thought the name Renesmee was a bit silly. Some parts of the story were a bit under developed eg: Charlie just finding out about supernatural things and being okish with it? But yes overall I thoroughly enjoyed Breaking Dawn for what it was.

I'm sorry for being so very blatant and persistent in my views against it guys; to be fair it had a few moments that i enjoyed, such as when all the various vampires were congregating and sharing their skills, and there were times when the pacing carried it through well, but ... well, you've read my complaints. (many times!) I'm sorry to have carried on the way i have but it just really ticked me off regarding certain themes that i have issues with. I am quite an "anti-housewife" person (which Dom will tell you is odd seeing as i'm obsessive with house-cleaning) and more to the point i'm quite anti-maternal, and i suppose i shouldn't have let these feelings influence my reading of the novel, but it was just unavoidable.

Don't appologise, from what I've read a lot of people feel the same way. I'm sad that the only one left will be the one from Edward's perspective. I wonder if that will be any good or just boring because it's the same story rehashed from Twilight isn't it? I thought this book was a lot more gothic than the previous Twilights, the grizzly birth, the paranoia and fear surrounding a possibly evil and dangerous feotus, the adorable but at first slightly creepy acellerated child and Bella's beginning flashback's to the past immortal children. Obviously most supernatural books are a bit gothic, but I thought these things made it more so. What do you guys think? Well we've got two fors and two againsts so far really, I wonder what everyone else will think when they finish Edit: also I read on an Australian forum that I sometimes visit that someone had five chapters of Breaking Dawn to go, then realised the last five chapters were missing and had been replaced with earlier chapters repeated in the back! How annoying would that be! She took it back and they couldn't exchange it for her cos they'd sold out. I would have kept it though, it could have been worth something one day!

Don't apologize- it's your opinion. I feel bad for all the people who read the series and were disappointed with the end. At least I enjoyed the whole series.

Now, i'm not changing my mind concerning the book, but i am starting to feel even more guilty about so readily dissing it and Meyer (in her writing it, not Meyer as a person) ... especially when i read fan pleas like this:
Support Stephenie Meyer and Breaking Dawn
A few days had passed since the release of Breaking Dawn, and the reactions just won't stop. The response hasn't been the best, but you can help us to give Stephenie Meyer our support, because we still love her, we still think she's an awesome writer and most of all because we think she did a great job with Breaking Dawn and all the Twilight Saga.
How?
Easy… Send us your videos (50 seconds maximum, you can almost send your links of the videos in Youtube) or photos, in which you show your support to the writer and to the last book to the e-mail supportstephenie@gmail.com For example you can send us a photo of yourself holding your book, or a sign saying "I loved Breaking Dawn" "Twilight Saga Rules", Be creative!
You have 'till September 9 to send us your images or videos, we plan to send her the video on September the 13th, the day of Bella's birthday.
With your support we will remind Steph how much we appreciate her, and help stop all the negative comments. Go ahead! Because Breaking Dawn also took your breath away.
I'm glad at least that i didn't post a Youtube response or something tremendously public in it's anger...

It kind of scares me how some people are so into these books. I mean, it's one thing to have a discussion about them, and quite another to talk post Youtube videos about them (?) For example: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzST8QyWQIM What?

I finished a few days after it came out, it was good but Twilight was the best out of al the books in the saga. I didn't really like Breaking Dawn. If you started the Twilight saga you have to read it. I am still happy i read it, but I woud have liked a little more. And the Nessie's name is a little weird. I feel like there should be another novel after that, still in Bella's point of view, and I wasn't happy with Bella's power. The ending was the best part in the book!

When I first posted I just wrote down what I thought, now I have read what you guy have said. Now that I have i have to agree with Dom, you guys are reading WAY to much into it. The whole series has been to entertain, and that is all it ever has been. The whole story can never happen in the real world. All it was was a story, and all it will ever be is a story! Yes I to admit I would have liked it to be better, but it is not our story, it is Meyer's, and that is how she wanted it to go! What can we do about it? I think we should all get over it and move on! Sorry if that was a little mean, but it is what I think!

I think anyone who didn't like it should feel free complain I know I do when I'm disappointed in something. I read an interesting review of it in a Sydney paper today and it really focused on Edward and how Edward goes from being a focal point the series revolves around quite a bit to taking a bit of a back seat in this final book. It implicated that as being the reason a lot of people haven't been heaps keen on it. That made a lot of sense to me, even though it didn't affect my enjoyment of the book at all What did everyone think about how sexy the book was? I was surprised that Bella and Edward managed to pull it off relatively without incident (discounting Renesmee of course).

I just found it funny that so much of the sex - and the violent/very passionate nature of it - was implied again and again but never detailed, and then we get ALL the explicit details of the birth which my tummy could have done without, hehe! Odd decisions there, i thought. But it's true, that sex was at least referenced quite openly and featured a fair amount in the first dozen chapters of the novel, which made for quite a change. I know a lot of readers felt it was a positive thing to read, Bella having a sex drive like she did. I've commented enough on this poor book, i'm just gonna leave my thoughts on characters etc. out for a while! I think the board needs an angry-Neh-break.

Oh Neh! I love your comments! I thought that some of the sex stuff was way over the top. I find it hard to believe that basically a living corpse can have sex with a human girl and still feel the same stuff that normal humans do. I mean no complications whatsoever??? And I thought that after the baby was born it was a little much to keep hinting that Edward and Bella continued to have sex. I just felt that okay they had the whole sex thing "could they or couldn't they?" have the whole baby spectacle and then move on. It got annoying after a while!
