Sorry to be resurrecting old threads, but I just got into the whole Twilight craziness. I'm about halfway through Eclipse now, and for me it's definitely Edward. I love the Romeo & Juliet quality of their love, like they're doomed from the start but can't stay apart. I understand why people would hate Edward for leaving Bella in New Moon, but somehow I never bought it: the entire time I was reading New Moon, I felt like Stephenie Meyer got it totally wrong (ironic since she's the author!) and that Edward would never do something silly like that. I think that's why I didn't like New Moon as much as the other novels, because I felt cheated, though I guess the dynamics between Edward and Jacob in Eclipse would not have been interesting if we hadn't first seen the friendship evolve between Jacob and Bella. I find Jacob funny but pretty annoying in Eclipse, I wish he'd give it up already and go back to being a good friend.
In the movie commentary, the director says that many women came up to her and said "I wish my daughter would find a boy like Edward, he's so perfect and polite", and she had to reply "But he's a vampire!!" ;D I thought that was funny

I don't know, I'm all for Edward, but I'd disagree. He's totally selfish and he thinks he's always doing stuff in everyone's best interest that he would totally get it wrong and skip out on Bella like he did in New Moon.
I don't know if I'd like a guy like Edward. I think its like cake, if you have too much of it, you get sick. I think Edward is too much of a good thing. He's too perfect and I think after a while I'd get really irritated by him, haha!
