My dad used to tell me when I was 2 and 3 that "books are your friend" so I never abused them, and always treated them respectfully. He read to me daily, and nightly, and my mom left when I was 4.... so I found escape (yes, that young) in reading & being read to. I'll never forget my dad telling me that one day, if I allowed them to, books would take me to a whole new world. He was right. I've always loved to read, and I have hundreds of books, and I am always looking for new things to read.

I don't really remember, I've been reading for as long as I can remember. My parents used to call me Belle, from Beauty and the Beast, because I'd walk around the house with a book and my parents would have to dodge me. Although, now, I've mastered that and can walk down a busy stairwell at school reading, without running into anyone.

It's a lot of things really. My dad is a teacher, my mum used to work in publishing so I always grew up with books. I remember being really young and my mum hosting book parties, we would have all these strangers come over to our house and she would try and convince the adults to buy books and I would entertain their kids in the living room. That company eventually sold out- and my mum chose to keep the books she was given as apose to money so we still have a lot of their books. We also used to sell books in primary schools a lot- sometimes fundraising for charities, sometimes just at car boot sales for us. . I'll always remember someone coming to our house once and saying, 'goodness do you have books in every room?' and my mum said 'why yes of course, don't you?' We literally do, we;ve run out of place to put them all so we just have them stacked in piles on the floor in some rooms.
