MFL is an excellent adaptation of Pygmallion methinks, because barely any of the text is lost and so much of it, in terms of theme and style, is incorprated into the lyrics of the songs. It's great!
I'm so happy to see this thread in use again. *big cheesy smile*

I loved Pygmalion!! One of my favourite plays ever. My Fair Lady was pretty cool, although Audrey Hepburn's voice got annoying in some bits

I didn't really like My Fair Lady much... and I am a BIG fan of Audrey Hepburn but I don't know something about the romance thing kind of freaked me out....That guy looked a lot older than Audrey did

Jobean, that's not Audrey Hepburn's voice It's a woman named Marni Nixon, but some think (wrongly) that it's Julie Andrews.
Haha ah alright then. She's also annoying when she goes "HOWWWWW do you do" ergh

Hehe, it's meant to be annoying, methinks. It's primarily a social satire, MFL and Pygmallion. And both Rex Harrisson as an actor, and the character of Henry Higgins, annoy and anger me no end. But i still love both the play, and the musical, and the film of the musical! Ugh, Tim Burton's film of Sweeney Todd comes out in cinemas here next week. Woe is me... he's destroyed a work of art.

What's Sweeney Todd about anyways? It looks awful (or definitely not my taste), whatever it's about lol

I haven't seen it, but basically I think it's about a man who was falsely accused of some crime and was sent to prison for 15 years. He comes back with a desire for vengeance and starts killing people, and his partner chops up the victims and turns them into meat pies. Many people believe that Sweeney Todd is not a completely ficticious character...
Has anyone seen the movie Jersey Girl? They do a Sweeney Todd song at a school show, and it's pretty funny!

I've seen Jersey Girl (it is a Kevin Smith movie, so how could I not see it...) and I thought that little part was great.
I really want to see Sweeney Todd - I'm a big fan of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp.

I WAS, but being a musical theatre buff and knowing my Sweeney, i don't think much of this adaptation at all. Especially not where the singing is concerned. But oh well, everyone else seems to be liking it, so what can you do?! *sigh* I have been wondering for quite a while now though, what the LOTR musical sounds like.....

Ok, so i was thinking: if the Simpsons can be counted as having produced some legit original musical pieces over the years, and if we are officially counting plays as being a literary source, then technically their adaptation of A Streetcar Named Desire should be in here - "Oh, Streetcar!" hehe. It's got such classic lines as "Can't you hear me yell-a, you put me through hell-a, Stella - STELLLLLAAAAAAAA!!!!" Genius. And then of course they did their own version of Mary Poppins..... "if you cut every corner it is really not so ba-ad...."

And you've got another Phan right here too! *puts hand up and waves it about* Have you guys read Susan Kay's Phantom? It's better than Leruox's original, i swear - so much more backstory and real emotional detail. Great great read.
