Zelda and Memccart, Michiganders are horrible/scary drivers--this is no misunderstanding, it's the truth Well we here in Michigan just generically despise everything that is Ohio, so I'll give you that one. But I think we just drive fast. Yes, you do drive fast. That's the only real difference. And I must say, when I was in North Carolina, they were much worse, going fast and cutting across 3 lanes on a highway to get off an exit ramp with only about 10 feet to spare! Crazies...
And I have to say that when I think of Germans, I think of the beer and Oktoberfest I also think of those buildings with the wood, I'm not sure how to describe them, so here's a picture lol
I don't think of Lederhosen unless someone says "Alps" lol

That´s what I meant with not being Bavarian. Not even Bavarians run around like that except for special occasions The beer belly is true though! The houses are calles Fachwerkhäuser but I don´t know the English term, timbered house?? I think driving is always are sore topic, in my area it´s the people from the Netherlands or especially Belgium who have a bad reputation. But I drive my mom´s car and it has a Dutch plate

haha, and you drive badly? ( I wonder why you have a dutch plate? because in germany cars are cheaper than in Holland..) I know in Germany they don't really have speedlimits on the highways.. right? I'm a horrible driver.. I should practise more.. but I don't think it's especially the dutch that drive bad..

For you Italians, I must say that I have the funny picture of good looking men riding around on scooters saying, "Ciao" Well, that's not the only thing I think of. First I picture Rome and all your famous buildings, and then gondolas, and then the funny "Ciao" men.

When I was in Rome, I was on the receiving end of many "ciao bella"s from random men so I don't know if it is a misunderstanding. But they weren't on scooters...

I have to admit I don't think it's a misconceptions, it happens quite often but, I noticed, not everywhere the same, in the city where I live people are generally very conceited...so they're on a car instead of a scooter, lol ;D seriously, if you're not dressed in a certain way most of the people don't even notice you that much, so here mostly foreigners or guys from other cities say "Ciao bella". Luckily buildings and gondolas comes before the funny "ciao" men

Hey cool thread! Just discovered it:D
So one of the biggest misconceptions about Norway are that people tend to think we have polar bears just hanging around in the streets. We don't. There aren't polar bears on the Norwegian mainland actually, you have to go all the way north to Svalbard, which is an island way, way up north, to find our polar bears:D

I didn't even know there were polar bears in Norway... and now I want to go see one.
Well obviously all the people from the US have addressed US misconceptions so I'm just going to dive into California misconceptions. Especially since I live in Huntington Beach which is the host of several Surfing tournaments, people I've met in other states and even other countries assume we just surf all day and ride bikes to the beach and hang out like they do on Laguna Beach or "The OC". Huntington Beach is part of Orange County so that only promotes questions like "so is it like the OC?"
I'm not gonna lie, for the most part summer days are really really nice, but for someone who lives 2 minutes from the beach, I don't go that often...

Haha, I imagined California that way after watching the O.C, but then I always thought people from California go to the beach a lot

When I was living in San Francisco, people would come visit and only bring shorts and sandals thinking that it was going to be like Southern California. Boy were they in for a surprise when they stepped off the plane. Luckily we usually had lots of jackets to share.
I thought that everyone in Florida would go to the beach everyday, but I've since learned that it is only tourists and high school kids skipping school. We still like to go on Sundays, but all our friends and us are still new to Florida (well I'm not even there yet, so I guess I'm still a tourist).

Zelda and Memccart, Michiganders are horrible/scary drivers--this is no misunderstanding, it's the truth Hahahaha - I don't think we're horrible drivers, we just drive FAST. I would usually go about 85-90 on the highways. It's funny to drive home from New York (the few times we don't fly) because we, and everyone around us, go 60-70 the whole way and then we cross the border into Michigan and everyone goes 20 miles faster. I've never gotten a ticket though, which I think also says something about Michigan. Plus I know where not to speed. I've never been in an accident either (knock on wood). Also, regarding Italy/Scooters/Ciao Bellas - I definitely got a ton of Ciao Bellas while I was studying there, and I rode with a guy on a scooter!
