I'm almost finished re-reading The Mists of Avalon at the moment. It was always on my list of all time faves but now I am not so impressed with it. Don't you hate it when that happens?!! I think it could have been A LOT shorter but the idea is still great.

I'm just about to start "The Poe Shadow" by Matthew Pearl. I read his other, "The Dante Club" earlier this year and loved it so hopefully I'll like this too. What could be better than a mystery surrounding Edgar Allan Poe? He was such a strange man. I'm going to get in bed and start it now!

A good book, but sad. So sad at the end.

I'm still reading Perfume, which is excellent and I can't wait to talk about. I get to start reading, for my ethnic studies class, an autobiography called Coming of Age in Mississippi by Anne Moody. It's about her life as an African American growing up in rural south during the 1940s-50s. I have to read 100 pages in 2 days, but hopefully it'll be interesting.

I just started reading sense and sensibility, i'm still trying to figure out what exactly is going on. I have to admit that I watched the end of the movie already, so I kinda ruined the end for myself.

I just started reading sense and sensibility, i'm still trying to figure out what exactly is going on. I have to admit that I watched the end of the movie already, so I kinda ruined the end for myself. The first Austen I tried to read was Pride and Prejudice. But I just got terribly confused and couldn't understand the language and style. So I tried to read Sense and Sensibility instead, since I'd seen the movie and knew what was supposed to happen, at least in general. It was a big help to already know what was supposed to be going on. It's a really great book to read. Just ask if you have some questions and I'll try to help you with it...

I'm currently reading "Invisible" by Ellison, and I don't find it that good. He has way too much details for me. Fortunatly, most of the class thinks the same way. You get side tracked because of all th details.

I had to read The Invisible Man for a class as well, and I didn't like it that much either. I know it's a very important work, and for that reason I'm glad I read it. But it was really long, and I agree- too much detail...that wasn't even interesting.

I must be stupid because I don't think I've ever even heard of this book. What's it about?

I needed to read something light since I've got so much work at the moment so I started reading "Our Town", a play by Thorntorn Wilder.

"Invisible Man" is a book about an African American, living in the south after emancipation. It deals with his issues, and life. I can't really give that many details at this point. You can check out amazon.com for reviews and a description.

If I remember correctly not many people liked the LOTR-books. I was one of them, but now I'm actually reading the books and I love them. Maybe it's because I've recently seen the movies again, but the books absorb and intrigue me. The story is good, sure, but there is so much more. A whole world, with it's myths and legends and creatures and thoughts nicely suggested and a little described between the lines.
Okey, I sound like some LOTR-freak, but really everybody should actually try the books.

I saw the movie some time ago and it was disturbing . I really liked how they used images to convey certain smells. Many people were really critical about how the movie would fail because it´s supposed to be about smells, but I think if you can read the book even though no smells come out of it you won´t have problems with the movie because it is foremost a question about imagination.
