ok, so someone had this as a myspace bulletin, but I think this makes a nice thread as well.. 1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence and post it.
4. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- mine is: That finish however was still a very long way off, more than 3000 tortuous miles. (Rallies and Races, Gatsonides' adventures by William Leonard) I am surrounded by books about cars and rallies..

"He brings it over to the white translator of guns and passes it into his hands." From The English Patient. I haven't read the book yet but this page seems, err... weird. I don't think I'll go into the details

I've re-read few pages of Pride and Prejudice yeterday and it's still on my table, just next my computer:
"That she should have walked three miles so early in the day, in such dirty weather, and by herself, was almost incredible to Mrs Hurst and Miss Bingley; and Elizabeth was convinced that they held her in contempt for it."

This thread is great! Mine is actually in Spanish, but I'll translate it the best way possible: "And there he stood, surrounding the thick street light with his arm, staring and conjecturing" To kill a Mocking Bird, Harper Lee

Quotation marks within a block quotation should appear as they do in the original.
The Bluebook - A Uniform System of Citation (Sorry, guys - I went with the closest book and that happened to be my legal citation book).

Mrs. Childers, who did the dress alterations, called her "honey" and told her how pretty she looked and bet sche wouldn't have any trouble finding beaux at Dupond, no matter how grand place it was.

Which can be translated into something like
She thought he sounded very nice.
