Does anyone else watch The Office? I recently became completely addicted. It is such an awesome show - so funny! I've been watching the NBC US version, and am currently catching up on season 3 (the current one, that ends tomorrow). After we finish all of season 3, we're going to get the British version seasons to watch over the summer. I'm glad to have found another show to watch though - definitely nothing like gilmore girls, but still nice to have a great show to watch. I didn't watch anything live on TV weekly besides the Gilmore Girls, so when it ended I would have had nothing. I'm not sure if the show is available in other countries or not. And actually, I'm not sure if it would be as funny in other countries either - it's very satirical in regards to the typical American corporate setting. I'm not sure if that humor can hold up in other countries/cultures. I'd be very curious to know. Anyway - I recommend it.

I haven't seen the US version, a couple of episodes aired over here but the series kind of bombed because everybody prefered the British one. Phil loves the British one, I got him all of the dvds except the christmas specials one for his birthday or christmas or something one year. I started watching it in the middle of the series and didn't really like it because I didn't get what was going on, but now that I've seen it from the beginning I get it and I like it. I wonder how different the American version is to the British?

I wonder how different the American version is to the British? I've heard they are pretty similar, but I'll be able to tell you more once I watch the British ones. They update some of the references - for example there's an episode where Michael goes to NYC for a meeting, and the jokes are totally modified for the US/NYC. He says things like "All the tourists go to the Empire State Building. Not me, when I come to New York, I like to go where the locals go - Times Square." And he goes on to list off how Times Square has all the good restaurants - and lists off all the chain restaurants like Red Lobster and Applebees. But I've also heard that a lot of it is very similar - some of the dialog is exactly the same. I know some people who are loyal to one or the other, and some people who love both.

I wish I had caught some of the episodes over here before they cancelled it. Australian tv is so erratic with it's programming it annoys me so much.
It would be weird not seeing the Ricky Gervaris (sp?) guy play the main character.

Hehe, I feel the exact same way about the US characters. Steve Carell is so perfect for Michael, the US boss. And Jim! I'm so in love with Jim! He is such a cutie and I love him with Pam (I don't know the names of the UK equivalents, but the receptionist/salesperson flirting relationship).
When I watch the UK version I'm just going to try to forget the US version and watch them as two separate entities.

I have seen the German version once. It is called "Stromberg", but it is not really my kind of humor.

I watch it and I love it. It can be really funny, or really disgusting. But it is a good show!

I don't really like the UK version. I haven't watched much of it though, so I'm going to give it another chance. I've heard the series has an adorable ending, too. I think that to enjoy both versions you have to view them completely separately and not try to compare them. They are good in different ways.
