Lol I worked at KFC for three years I had two offers at the same time, the KFC job wasn't really near my house, and it just seemed more greasy than working in a coffee house, lol. I love their Potato Bowls though... It's hard to quit a job when you know it'll be hard to find another right away. I kind of want to save up all my money this year and have enough to pay for the two remaining years of school so that I can maybe switch jobs....

I was a shop assistant (aka checkout chick) in a very budget city dept store when I was at high school and university. The best bit about it was that I got to be Santa's Helper during the pre-Christmas period for a few year's running. It was also a very social job, ie, being in the city, we had staff members from all over Melbourne (where I grew up) so got to know a lot of people I never would have encountered otherwise. Has also made me very empathetic towards checkout operators, ie, I know what a shitty time they are having with rude customers, being on their feet for so long, monotony etc etc.

I've tried to find summer job, but I'vent found anything. I'm too young or I live in wrong place. Another summer when I'm old enough to work, but I don't get anywhere.

I'm too young or I live in wrong place. It sucks! (sorry about the language ) But it's true. I live in a really small village, quite far from towns and cities and because of that I haven't find any jobs, but I really want a job!! I have to have money to buy books! Only job I can get here is working in a field (weeding, collecting cucumbers, tomatoes etc..) and I can say that they are the worst jobs in the universe. I have done those things for three summers in a row and I'm afraid that I have to continue with it!

I just got accepted for a job at the zoo this summer! I'm sooo excited! I've volunteered there for many years but now I'm actually going to get paid.

I had my first day of work at library yesterday, it was very good. I actually didn't have much to do, only 4 people came to return or check out books, I spent most of the time reading and placing books back on the shelves. I'll work there tomorrow morning also, I think there will be more people because it's a Saturday.

so what do you guys usually do when you are looking for a job? do you look for ads requesting employees? do you ask friends if they know somebody who could hire you? do you actually go to the places where you wanna work and ask them if they need a new employee? how did you get your current job for example?

It depends on the kind of job I'm after. When I've been after a part-time/casual job to do while at uni I look through ads online, apply at shops online, trawl shopping centres putting in resumes absolutely everywhere and looking for signs up for work, ask around, get my friends to look out for vacancy signs for me etc. That's how I got one of my current jobs in a men's wear shop. My other job is working at a newspaper once a week as a journalist, I got it by doing a three week internship. They were happy with me so they decided to keep me on

They were happy with me so they decided to keep me on me too, except my internship was 3 months.. haha, and I can say whether I have time to write or not.. so when I'm busy, I'm not doing any work for them.
