I agree with you, but I do think that everyone may believe in what they want. They are free people, you know. But I do believe in God, and only in him. So I don't think that mary is important when God didn't gave her Jesus. On wich board did you post it? We created a "Religion" thread in the General Discussions board (you'll have to scroll down a bit to find it).

The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera. Hate it!! Think I´ve said that before . But it´s horrible especially since critics made such a big deal about it. Hated the characters, they were so stupid and some dream sequences were disgusting! Okay, I´m trying to calm down now. I don´t like that Dickens goes so much into detail when he´s describing the scenery. Especially plants. I have a hard time remembering plant names in German but I´m lost in English! But his stories are great. I TOTALLY AGREE!! I just read this last semester for my World Lit Honors class and it sucked. Plus, then we had to watch the movie. And it was really provacative and spontaneous..one minute it would be fine and then very very graphic. Most of the time I can handle that stuff but since I had read the book I knew that I wouldn't like it. Thankfully my teacher gave us the option to leave in the middle of it. I really didn't enjoy Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld. I don't know who she was marketing it to--young adults or adults? Because I'm fine with the book until you get to the explicit sex scenes...just too explicit for me and I found that this, along with the main character's whininess I didn't like it.

I read Prep last year, and I thought it was okay, but different/weird. I read Man of My Dreams by Curtis Sittenfeld too and I really didn't enjoy that book. It was even worse than Prep

I really don't like "So long, Little Women" by Marcela Serrano! I remember that I've forced myself to finish reading it! I don't like the story and I don't agree with her interpretation of "Little Women" by Alcott!

The author makes a link between the four cousins she's talking about and the four little women, I think this link is very forced in more than a point of the story. One example. When one of the girl (I even forget their names!..I call her GIRL A) gets married with the best friend of one of the others (girl B), the girl B is jealous and, if I remember right, they even stop talking each other for years! The author says that it's the same situation when Laurie married Amy and Jo is jealous, beacuse Jo loves him I don't agree because Jo always says that she loves Laurie as I brother! I think that the only link is the number:4! But maybe I'm wrong, I'm excessive...I have three male friend that I love as three brothers! Also, when I was a child I was obsessed by the characther of Jo March, she was my favourite heroine from books! So I'm not impartial! Sorry for any mistakes I've done writing!

lol. yes, you used impartial in a correct way. Don't worry about making mistakes, you really don't make that many and it's easy to understand what you write.
I agree with you that Jo never loved Laurie in a romantic way, she did think of him as a brother and she was thrilled when he married Amy, so I don't understand how Serrano could make such a connection...

You're like the four little women!! Little Women is the first book I had ever read and Jo the first character I had ever identified with! I think I identified with her because of her love for reading...and..maybe because of some features of her temper!

I liked Jo. But I couldn't really get into Little Women. My mum loves it though.
