I loved it too, and I still do... But the first time I read it, when I was 10, I think, I didn't care much for it, but then I re read it, and started liking it more and more. Total I think I've read it like 6 times

I can understand that, bru. I think Huck Finn is the kind of book that keeps growing with you, if that makes any sense. As a kid, you usually enjoy the story because of Huck and Jim's adventures on the river, then when you read it later, you begin to understand there's something special about the relationship between Huck and Jim, and as you get older and understand issues like racism and slavery, and especially how they shaped the history of the US, you can finally begin to appreciate how important this novel is in American literary history and what it truly meant when Huck helped Jim escape.

I really need to re-read Huck Finn! I'm almost sure I read it when I was a child but I can't remember a lot...sometimes I think I didn't read it but just my brother did and then talked me about the story, it's the same with The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea.

It's interesting you mention Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. My brother is a sci-fiction fanatic, and he got this book as a present for his b-day and said he really liked it, so I started reading it but to be honest, I'm not really into sci-fiction, I prefer fantasy. But eitherway I think I'm going to give it another chance, after all I really liked other works by Jules Verne, especially Around the World in Eighty Days I just went to the musicial with my niece.

Anyone read Billy Budd? Terrible. I can't believe I spent all that money for that flippin book. It was for school but I generally really like school books. This one however... it might have been the sailor talk. There have been books I've simply disliked but this might be the only book I've ever just hated.

Herman Melville wrote Billy Budd. I agree there are some school books which just make you wonder what could have been going through the teachers head when they decided as class we'd have to read something...

I didn't have to read it for school but I still hated it because it's a great book I sometimes think I should give Goethe (but not Werther) another try.

I, for one, detest anything Jorge Luis Borges has ever written!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to study three short stories of him for my literature exam, and it was painful as you wouldn't believe.....
