So, I've heard rumours that season 7 will be the last season of GG. Do you think it's time to wrap it up or should they go for season 8?
Thoughts?

I'm not sure, it would depend on where the show is going. I think there is potential for another season, it would just depend on the dynamics of th show. I know the original writers wanted to end it with Rory's graduation from Yale. Rory can still go to Grad school, and looking for a job in journalism would be interesting to watch.

I think it's very likely that this is the last one. Nothing has been confirmed officially though.
Lauren Graham is producing a new show on the CW next season.

I've got a feeling this is the last season also. BTW, does anyone know why the original writers left the show?

I've got a feeling this is the last season also. BTW, does anyone know why the original writers left the show? I think it was a contract issue or something. The Auseillio Report has something about it on TVguide.com

I think this will be the last season too, they're kind of running out of storylines. All the same it will be sad...

Posted by Jefie on Today at 10:25am "BTW, does anyone know why the original writers left the show?" Amy Sherman-Palladino and husband during contract renegotiation last year, season 6, wanted to sign a two year deal. The WB would only let them sign a one year deal since all the actors contracts were for one year and I supposed there were rumors about Aleis wanting to quit after season 7 was done. So I guess the WB thought they could be paying the writers and missing out on one of the key actors. Grahm, Bledel, and Patterson's contracts were only inked until season 7 at the time that ASP left the show. So they basically left because they couldn't get a two year deal signed. I'm sure you might find an interview of ASP with her reasoning behind leaving if you search hard enough. I think I read it on the old WB boards. As for my opinion I think this is probably the last season. I'll hope and wish for another one and try to stay optomistic yet the odds are probably saying no. Who knows maybe Lauren and ALexis will sign new deals out of nowhere and suprise us. One more season would be nice.

No, they;ve signed on for another season for sure. Its definite. Although, I dont really care if this is the last season, considering the show has been going downhill ever seen the Palladinos left.

I think it started going downhill before the Palladino's left. I think they had just been doing it for so long they started to run out of ideas.

If it ends well at the end of Season Seven then I guess I could live with that, almost.
I do want a Season Eight though. If only they could get some better writers....

I think whether or not it's gone downhill depends on your perspective. It seems like as the main age group that watches gilmore girls has aged to about rory's age or a bit younger, they've included all this extra stuff to try to appeal to them more, like the drinking and the more obvious conversations and allusions to sex etc. I like both the old and the new gg, but maybe it's because it's been so hard to get the new gg in Australia that I still enjoy it.
