Maybe I can get a few more recommendations, Carma. But the bookstore is already a very good one, of course! I am definately going to go downstairs there! If you've got the time you could travel down to Kinderdijk, to see the mills . Oh and there are a lot of museums at the 'Museumpark'. Like Booijmans & Beuningen, de Kunsthal, Witte de With. (All art) I've been to Booijmans and to de Kunsthal, and I prefer Booijmans & Beuningen (but when I went there, they had a Dali exposition). De Kunsthal is very modern, a bit too modern for my taste. . For shoestores you should go to the 'Lijnbaan'. That is near the rest of the shopping (also close to the bookstore). ehm... well, what are you interested in?

Thank you, Carma! Well, the things you mentioned all sound very interesting. Books, museums and shoes are a perfect combination. Probably I should ask my friends what they would like to do. I am also interested in eating! Do you have any recommendations?

I am also interested in eating! Do you have any recommendations? Hmm, I don't now if you like Dim Sum? I think th eplace is Called Tai Wu and we usually ate Dim Sum there . www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g188632-d781191-Reviews-Tai_Wu-Rotterdam_Zuid_Holland.htmland I'm not sure about others... When I went shopping with my mom we usually had lunch at the Hema, or La Place (inside V&D). Or we ate at this Surinamese/Chinese place.. It's in the same row as the big bookstore.. But I'm not too familiar with other places... Theres a big chain of 'beren' places, but they are kind of tacky .http://www.gusto.com/netherlands/rotterdam/restaurants/bettybeer-R188540.html

I've been to China a few months ago, in Beijing, and it's amazing, it was also snowing! Maybe I'll upload pics later.

I returned from Paris yesterday. I went there with my boyfriend. For him, it was the first time ever in France. I had been to Paris three times before (I just love this city), so I prepared a list of places to go and things to do =) The weather was good, too, so we were out all day visiting everything and returned with blisters on our feet and sunburns, but very happy.

i love scotland! i planned on going back there over pentecost/whitsun/pfingsten, but that's not going to happen so i need to make plans to go again in october... I hope it works out for you in october!!! I´ll probably go in august or september and stay in hostels. I finally did book a flight to edinburgh (september-october). i'm planning to go up to the shetlands and then on to the orkneys. I'd have to rent a car though, which is both expensive and let's face it, dangerous. at least for me, since i've never driven a left-traffic car... i've also booked 1 cent flights (10,02 euro total ) to london in november. traveling is the best thing ever.

My flight to Detroit for this weekend was $9 each way. Total for both of us was less than $70. I love spirit airlines. Unfortunately Detroit and Fort Lauderdale are the only cheap destinations and ft. lauderdale is only 4 hours away by car anyway.

What's a 1 cent flight and how can I get one? Do you use frequent flyer miles?

What's a 1 cent flight and how can I get one? Do you use frequent flyer miles? Well, it's a flight for 1 cent. Usually you have to pay all the taxes and a fee for luggage on top of it, but sometimes the price includes the taxes. I don't know how common it is in the US, but there are quite a few low fare airlines here in Europe, all offering special bargains. There are annoyances with some airlines (like my fave Ryanair) like their airports are in the middle of nowhere or all the extra fees you have to pay, but most of the time it's still way cheaper than flying big airlines. Did anyone ever CouchSurf?

It looks like I am not going to Rotterdam. My friend (whose cousin lives there) has to work and without her it's not possible for us to stay there. But thanks again for your recommendations, Carma!
