I think I'm going to go to Carols in the Domain this year with my girlfriends! For those who don't know what that is, though I'm these things must happen in other countries, it's basically a bunch of celebrities who get up on stage and sing Christmas carols, and then at the end Santa comes out and all the children cheer hahaha. I don't think I ever went as a child, because my parents are Buddhists, but we still celebrate Christmas every year and have Carols In The Domain on the television in the background when we're having family dinners. Hopefully the Wiggles and Hi-5 will be back! hahah

In the US we have Black History Month during February. Does any other country have a month that is "dedicated" to something similar?

It's just a month that is dedicated to the history and contributions of the African-American community. It's not really recognized unless you're in school, but some TV channels like History Channel spend more time talking about African-Americans. It's sad that we've only given them one month out of the whole year, but what can ya do?

We don't have anything like that but we do have a week dedicated to the "bad" kind of history (all the wars, Holocaust etc. it's dedicated to those who died in them) we have a ceremony in school once a year and there's also a siren in which those who attend supposed to stand silent, it's kinda formal, every year the same.

I'm from Israel, so they take the holocaust thing very seriously here. Last year they took us on a trip to Poland to see the concentration camp in Warsaw, I didn't go because I've been to something similar but it's very interesting, I've been to Anne Frank's shelter also and it was all very interesting and amazing!

So the other day it hit me, does any other country have the tradition with putting almonds in the porridge? It's like a competition, the one who gets the almond win something...it's very common here, especially around Christmas...

That's so cool! Oh man I totally would want to do that except I hate porridge.
In Poland I think around December 5th or something theres this day like dedicated to Santa Clause and kids used to clean their shoes and leave them out and in the morning they'd get candy and small toys and cool stuff. My mom still does it for us except instead of toys I got Mascara this year, lol.

In Canada we do I'm gonna add a question: do you guys get chocolate for Easter? I spent Easter with my friend's family down in Texas and was shocked when I discovered that chocolate wasn't part of the plans!

Yeah we have a lot of chocolate for Easter, usually chocolate eggs...
As for Halloween, we have something that roughly translates to carnival, about two months before Easter. People dress in costumes like you do in Halloween and there are parades and parties...

We do. I have birthday in April, so when Easter is same time than my birthday, I used to get chocolate and porcelain bunnies present to my friends. Now I have like 10 different Easter porcelain bunnies.
