Well there's the famous Julliard...there's Capital University Conservatory of Music in Columbus, Ohio. That's a big one here in Ohio, and one of my friends is going there for horn performance and musical composition (www.capital.edu/internet/default.aspx?pid=158) Other than that I really don't know what schools are special for music.

I think the Boston Conservatory of Music is very good as well. Bard College has an excellent program... Are you looking for something big or small? Also you need to figure out how much of an issue price will be and whether you want to study things besides music as well

Another question: What sort of music are you looking for? Instrumental or vocal? Or even teaching or compostion?

There's a really nice university on the West Coast of the US called Berkeley college. It's in California. I've heard they have a stellar music program from what I've heard.
