I've heard of them, but I haven't read any. I have them on my list to read, or at least the first to see if I'll like the series.

I've heard of them. I've never read them myself, but they're pretty popular in my library.

I´ve heard a bit about the books but they seem very sex and the city to me.They might be funny beach reads. I always read chick lit at the beach

The Books arn't bad actually... their entertainment for sure not much deep thought has to go into them to get the full story line! Definitely good beach/fluff books

there was a special about these types of books on Oprah or 20/20 i can't remember which one. It was about books like Gossip Girl that are essentially made for pre-teens and teenagers containing sometimes lewd scenes and languages. I used to read the books and i know that for books aimed at young girls they deal with a character who is bulimic, constantly weight conscious, put an extreme emphasis on appearance and having the "RIGHT" clothes(meaning only designer pocketbooks and clothes). The books also deal A LOT with things like sex, and gay/lesbian relationships. Offering VERY graphic scenes and images, as well as drugs and alcohol. On the whole i would not recommend this to anyone unless they are out of high school

I would agree with Oprah (I'm pretty sure I saw something about these on one of her episodes). I read the first couple in the series in grade 7 I believe and felt rather sophisticated because they did deal with very adult issues, but looking back I can see how innapropriate they were. But I would definatly recommend them to those finished highschool for a quick fluff read, after all we all need something like that once in a while- a brain vacation.
