I enjoy a mix of both. It really depends on what I'm in the mood for. I find that it takes me longer to read a non-fiction book and I do more thinking - mostly introspectively. So, if I want to read a book fast and don't feel like thinking much, I go for a fiction one!

I've always been into fiction, but I've gotten into non-fiction as well mostly because I watch a lot of specials on Discovery Channel or the History Channel and then I'd like to read more into something they're talking about.
A lot of the nonfiction I like are history related like this book "Enigma" I picked up recently about the coding machine the Nazis used during WW2. Biographies are also really interesting to me. If it's just someone rambling on about nothing or I guess essays or politics I usually skip it.

My brother reads a fair bit of fiction but even he seems to have switched more to non-fiction in recent years. Maybe men think that fiction is a bit frivolous? (isn't there some discussion of this in Northanger Abbey?) I am like most of you in that most of my non-fiction is memoirs or biography. I also do like some history though and also odd things like that Freakonomics book. Also quite keen to read Susan faludi new book "The Terror Dream" which I think is about how the US has changed since 9-11. She wrote a fantastic feminist book called "Backlash" in the 90's (?) which I really loved.

I largely read fiction novels but every now and then i like to pick up a non-fiction book. I prefer biographies, memoirs and diaries/journals. I have to be greatly interested in the subject, otherwise I get bored easily. I'm currently reading The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx, a non-fiction diary entry recount of his heroin days. Very fascinating!!

In high school, I read strictly fiction. But then, when I started university three years ago, I gradually became more and more interested in reading non-fiction, including biographies, memoirs, diaries, journals, but also historical records like you said. Where non-fiction is concerned, I am especially interested in reading about politics, since my degree is partially in politics.
