Hi, So I've purchased the book "Perfume" because I assume that will be the next choice since some people have already got it for the next choice. So I was wondering how it will work. I read in the Plath section that it is done chapter by chapter? how long do you spend on a chapter?

It's pretty relaxed, sometimes we do a chapter every couple of days, sometimes we don't it really depends what everyones doing. Generally if you want to start a new chapter you just start on it, you can always go back and discuss things that have already been mentioned if you have a fresh view on something we've passed. It has taken us awhile to get where we are up to with The Bell Jar, granted that's partially due to the change over from the wb boards to here, so it's not too hard to keep up with really.
Basically I read up to where we are at about now with the Bell Jar when we first started doing it a couple of months back, and a lot of the time I'm discussing it from memory or looking back over parts. So you don't have to read the thing chapter by chapter in time with the book club either. I find it a lot easier to read ahead.

I agree with Poisonpen, sometimes it's just easier to read ahead because you get a clearer picture of the entire story so it helps to analyze some of the minor events when you look back on them.
The Perfume has about 50 chapters so I wonder if we should do it chapter by chapter, or go with book sections? What do you guys think?

Which ever works for everyone else. Preferably no too large of sections, because I have a lot of school work and would probably not be able to participate if it was too much extra reading.

I donĀ“t know yet how time consuming uni will be but I think I can always read on the train. One week for reading plus discussing a chapter? Or is that too long?

No, I think that will be fine. Jefie was asking to read parts at a time, instead of chapters. That would be fine just not too many chapters in a week. Whatever is best for everyone else.

I think parts would be best, if it has fifty chapters. Or I guess it depends on how long the chapters are, I haven't gotten my copy yet, so I don't know.

They're not very long, about 4 pages...

4 pages per chapter is really short. We could read 5 chapters a week, then discuss it.
