Just needed to mention something that came up during our chat session - we were talking about Part 2 and how it was long and didn't seem all that connected to the rest of the story. But then we came to the conclusion that in order for Briony to reach her "atonement" goal, she had to make herself go through what everything Robbie might have gone through because of her, which I think gives a bit more purpose to that part.

I'd never thought of it that way. That makes sense. I knew that it was important, but I guess I couldn't figure out how it was.

Read it, own it, saw the movie, LOVE IT.
I'd definitely re-read it for a book club though...
