I like the American Harry Potter covers too. Especially for book 7, I didn't really like the UK children's edition cover. I think the illustrations for the US ones are amazing, I really like the illustrator.

That is a cool site - it's fun looking at the different covers. And I do like the ones from Holland.

Nice thread! I usually look more at the price than at the cover of a book I want to buy (that happens only with classics which have lot of editions) but I really like book covers and I love seeing different ones.

lol, funny that Quebec should be listed as a "country" I like the Canadian ones, I guess I'm just so used to seeing them by now. I've noticed that they're identical to the Australian ones But I agree, the ones from The Netherlands are pretty cool too!

I personally like the adult covers the best. Not so embarresing to be seen with (because they are sort of children's books).

It really doesn't embarrass me to be seen with the children's cover. I love Harry Potter.

Ditto again! I prefer the kids covers primarily because i see nothing wrong with them - for the most part, they're cute and always very detailed - and besides, i've made a habit over the years of buying that particular version and i don't want to break the trend - the other books would shun the newcomer if i did and i can't go risking disagreement and potential anarchy on my bookcase!
Oh! and thankyou very much for the link, carma; it's great to see all the different illustrations. I agree with memccart and jefie that the Netherland ones are very very pretty indeed! Beautiful stuff.

I'm sure than in our lifetimes many many new editions of Harry Potter books will come out. Anniversary Editions, ones with intros by JKR, heck - maybe even annotated ones! It will be fun to see all the beautiful designs of the special "please buy more copies of Harry Potter!!!" editions.

Last week I bought "Chip Kidd: Book One: Work 1996-2006" at Strand. www.amazon.com/Chip-Kidd-Book-Work-1986-2006/dp/0847827852/I highly recommend this book. It's so fun! Chip Kidd is a famous book designer, and one of the minority who actually reads every book he designs. This book is full of pictures of his book covers, his comments and stories behind them, pictures of rejected covers, faxes from the authors with their comments. So much fun.
