Hehe, everyone loves Jane Eyre - i think it's a given to love the protagonist of a great classic - well, for the most part. There are always exceptions... like Tom Jones for example. I Capture The Castle however definately falls into the first category, coz as J.K. Rowling put it, Cassandra is "one of the most charismatic narrators i've ever read" - she's a gem and her insights and ideas are always a delight to read.

I think everyone loves Jane Eyre because everyone can identify with her...She is one of the first female protagonists to exhibit her flaws and accept them for what they are.

Well said about Jane, sage - well said! I think the same reasoning could most certainly apply to Anne Shirley/Anne of Green Gables appeal - the flaws and mistakes make for her lovability.

I keep debating over who my favourite character is in the Twilight series. I like both Bella and Edward a lot, they're very appealing. But so far (haven't finished Eclipse yet) Alice and maybe Rosalie seem like the more complex and interesting characters.

I really like Jacob (I haven't read Eclipse yet). I think Edward was my favorite from the first one, but he made me mad in the second one. I also like Alice a lot.

Memccart, be sure to let me know your thoughts on Jacob AFTER you've read Eclipse, coz mine changed rather dramatically. For that matter, i think i also altered my take on Alice aswell...

Hmm...know I'm curious. But I"m not allowed to read it until exams are over. Seriously. I'm glad I don't own it because that would take some willpower.

I'm reading "The Secret Life of Bees" and my favorite character is August I really liked August! But I think that even though it's hard to see it Lily is by far the most amazing character in the book! She's a 14 year old girl with the soul as strong as a forty year old man. I guess what has drawn me to her the most was the courage and how she stands up for herself, and I think it takes a LOT of courage to just pack a few clothes and leave, especially with your black maid during that time!

I'm currently reading Reading Lolita in Tehran, and my favorite character so far, you can guess, is Azar. This woman has some guts! (I'm really enjoying it so far)

I'm reading Lullabies for Little Criminals. My favorite character is Baby, she's an adolescent girl growing up with an addicted father. It's really good. Her outlook on life is different. Her father seems schizophrenic.
