A lot of us are completely psyched about HP7 coming out and i thought that this thread could be sort of a venting station where we could exchange completely random theories and then remininsce when the pandemonium is over. Rowling has not only announced the date of publication for HP7 but has also..... (And this could be some of the stuff we could discuss)
1. Title of the book is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows(why) 2. Due out July 21 2007 ( A lot of people expected the book to come out a lot later...) 3. The covers for the adult, U.K, and U.S edition are out (Interesting to note how bare the U.S edition is compared to the U.K) 4. The book is shorter than Order of the Phoenix but longer than The Goblet of Fire

I am soooooo excited for the 7th book. I think it is going to be great. Ben is a HP nerd and he always sends me links to mugglenet articles and there are som interesting theories on there (like how McGonagall could be the spy). I wish it were longer just because I don't want it to end, but JKR says that she is happy with it and it is her favorite, so I'm sure it will be great.

I just don't want Harry to die... I'd be really upset. Maybe is some magical way his parents could come back.

I don't want Harry to die either. I don't want some savior thing to happen where he has to die in order to save the world. But I also think things can't be perfect in the end, so I'm not sure what I'm hoping for. The McGonagall as spy article was interesting. Or not even just that it is her, but someone totally unexpected. Here is the link if you are interested: www.mugglenet.com/editorials/editorials/edit-trumanl01.shtml

No one wants to use my old HP thread anymore!!!!!!!!!! boohoo...... *cough!gotoThatPotterLad,prettypleasecough!* Oh well, i shall recover. I have several theories regarding events and revelations to come in HP7, one of the central ones being *gets ready for rotten fruit to be chucked* that Haz may die. No, scrap that; it's not so much a theory as a wish. But don't think me evil! It's just that - and i'm so glad to see that memccart spoke of this above, as well - i so long for the series to avoid a happy-go-lucky ending which concludes things with smiles after so much frankly AWFUL stuff has occured for the past 17 years of poor Haz's existence - not to mention prior to that. He shall defeat Voldy, of course; that much i won't debate, because we all know it's gonna happen - it's just a matter, and a very crucial one at that - of HOW. Not that i think he'll die TO defeat big bad V....... even in light of the whole Horcrux subplot, that doesn't really work (think about it... the ring didn't have to be destroyed, just the Horcruz within.. but the ring was still very much the worse for wear because of it...) Oh! i think the whole mention of Horcruxes leads me to state my other central belife, that Harry is a Horcrux, or rather, has one within him quite possibly - the scar being the link to this. I wager Voldy had planned to make him one that evening, after "despoing" of him, because it had been prophised afterall that Haz would be his downfall and what better and more morbid display of egotism than to have your final Horcrux and key to immortality be the baby boy you killed? Awful i know, but heck, the man hung bunnies as a child!! I know that we all wish the best for our hero, and would love to see him settled with Ginny (or whoever you see him with), safe and content alongside his mates Ron and Hermy (who of course WILL get together and about time too!) ...... but i don't know... to me it would feel like such a letdown to see a series which has never shied away from darker elements totally omit the very real presense of things like depression (to put it mildly!) etc....... and i don't know.. to me there's something very poetic about The Boy Who Lived... dying.... and in some ways, i think he'd be happy if he were able to go be reuinted with his mum and dad and Sirius..... But i ramble! For any hardcore fan who loves to get into the could-be's and what-if's of the HP world, fansites like the GREAT Mugglenet (again, mentioned above by memccart - you smart cookie you! They're editorials are brilliant over there) Leaky Cauldron or Veritaserum are fantastic places to converge (super forums too). Plus, if you're really serious, be sure to check out Mugglenet's book: What Will Happen in Harry Potter 7. It's written by several members of staff, and is a great read to get you prime and pumped for this July! I'm afraid it'll be a let down.... I don't know but it seems to me that it all happened really really quickly. I was expecting another year at least!! I mean J.K took about 3 years to finish the Order of the Phoenix and that was only the 5th book!! I am hoping it'll be really good but judging from the other 6 i know i shouldn't be worrying. I have this dreaded feeling because i don't want it to end!!

By the way memcart it's nice to meet a fellow mugglenet fan!! Do u listen to the podcasts?? They are so good! I'm not a fan of the podcasts. I'm actually not a huge mugglenet fan, my husband is, so he just tells me the interesting things. I do think it is a great site, I just haven't gotten into it myself. The podcasts annoy me. I don't have a very good reason for why they annoy me, but they do. Especially when they listen to voicemails. But sometimes I listen to them because Ben downloads them to my ipod and when I run out of Meet the Press, Mugglecast is what I'll turn on.

Did i do something wrong? I'm just confused by sagedautumn's post. Did my ranting, or my begging, bother people? I'm sorry guys. I'll shut up now. And Dom, we both know i am immune to anything you say!

Oh, and memccasrt and sagedautumn, i'm quite the Mugglecast (Mugglenet's podcast) fan and i used to visit their fan forum boards often. I still make it a habit to download the new episode each week. Pottercast, the Leaky Cauldron's edition, is quite good too, if somewhat different in style because John, Melissa and Sue are in general a good deal older than the MC boys (and Laura). But when both combine, on their "LeakyMugs", it's a great show! If you can, be sure to check out any exisitng vids from them over at youtube, coz they're a riot!
