"The sequel to Twilight, New Moon, had an unintentionally staggered release all over North America, beginning in early August 2006. The third book in the series, Eclipse, was released on August 7, 2007. The fourth book, Breaking Dawn, will be published in fall 2008. She has said on her website that there will be more than four books, though the narrator might change. Midnight Sun will be more of a companion piece to the series,(if published) rather than a genuine sequel, as it describes "Twilight" from the view of Edward Cullen. The first chapter of Midnight Sun has been posted on Meyer's website."
There should be more then four books.
She also has a new series she's working on: "In spring of 2008, Stephenie Meyer's adult sci-fi novel, The Host, will be published by the adult division of Little, Brown and Company; it follows the story of Melanie Stryder and Wanderer, two women sharing a single body, who are forced to work together in order to save Jared, the fugitive man they both love. Meyer has confirmed that The Host is the beginning of a new sci-fi trilogy. In fall of 2008, Breaking Dawn the tentatively-titled fourth novel in the Twilight series, will be published. Meyer also hopes to have Midnight Sun — which is Twilight written from Edward's perspective — published in the spring of 2008 or 2009."

Yeh, she detailed some of that in a little video on Amazon. Here's a little chat with her, concerning writing the series in general, and the release of Eclipse: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SQ9bJIhcJ0

I finished Eclipse and it was great. Let me know when anyone else has finished so we can discuss.

I so wish i could but alas, i still haven't bought it, yet alone read it (just going to a local store and purchasing it isn't that easy over here, as basically none carry it) Going to all the fansites and seeing polls and whatnot on people's thoughts about the book is just torture! Anyone wanting or willing to discuss possible casting choices for when they finally start making the film/s of this series???

I don't want to read this thread since I haven't read New Moon yet, but I just finished Twilight and loved it. I'm really glad that I decided to give it a try. I can't wait to buy New Moon!

Hurrays! Good stuff memccart - welcome aboard!
I'm about a third of the way through Eclipse... mabye a little more. Liking it so far - annoyances continually with Ed and Jake but they're males so what can i expect?! Good amount of exposition and info though; very handy and very interesting.

Ok... my final thoughts....
*SPOILERS AHEAD*
Good stuff overall, but the "Wuthering Heights" comparissons got too much for me at times... i mean seriosuly - why would anyone WANT to compare themselves to Heathcliff and Cathy?! Don't they realise that's a BAD paralell to draw?! *shakes head* The love triangle thing also seemed a little forced and not at all too credible at times, but i say this primarily because i was very pissed off with Jacob for most of the novel anyway - that boy can be too arrogant for his own good sometimes and werewolf or not, his temper can be too violent.. me no like. I fear for the future of everybody now - no matter what path is taken out of the options, things seem ominious - Bella becomes vampire, bye bye mum and dad and normal life and hello risk of wanting to kill eveyrone you see and massive amounts of pain and the possibility of never seeing/talikng to Jake again coz he's so stubborn about the werewolf/vampire emnity etc. Bella doesn't become vampire, bye bye Edward and co. (at least in her reasoing) coz she's gonna get old and die one day and they won't. Bella does neither thing and Ed leaves her or something.... she mostlikely commits suicide! Good gravy! How is anything positive meant to come out of this narrative?!

I started the copy of Twilight Renee lent me and I'm enjoying it so far. It's quite captivating and hasn't taken me long to get into. I'm about halfway through and at the rate I'm going at now it won't be long until I'm done with it
