I don't think I've ever actually read a Roger Ebert review. I'm not a fan. He didn't really tell me what he thought of the movie and it was poorly written. I think I'll just stick to watching movies on my own and maybe checking out rottentomatoes.

Good? Bad? Mediocore? Not true to the book? Definitely mediocre. It was SO cheesy. The acting was just ok. People laughed a lot throughout the movie because of the cheesiness of it. Their choices for Jasper, Bella, Alice and Carlisle were completely wrong (esp jasper! everyone in the theatre were like "THATS Jasper?! wtf") The portrayal of some characters was far different from the book versions. Those who haven't read the book wouldn't quite understand the movie. Also, stylistically, the movie was poorly made. Not grand like the Harry Potter movies. Must have been a small budget movie. I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5. Its receiving poor reviews, deservedly.

Apparently the budget was really small for the movie. A fraction of the cost of other big book-movie adaptations like the harry potter movies. Also the production company that put it out is an up and comer so that might be the reason there aren't big stars. I haven't seen it, but I'm going to wait till not so many people are going to see it because I hate large crowds when I'm trying to concentrate on the movie!

I read online that it was something like $30 million to make the movie. Probably why special effects weren't as great as in other movies?
Are the books worth reading? People are always shocked I haven't read one and people keep pushing me to at least give the first one a try. Is it really all that it's cracked up to be? I mean the font and language makes it seem like an easy read even though the book is rather large...

They're all pretty quick reads, yeh, and the first two i found especially addictive, despite the fact that the writing style and elements of the plot were far from fantastic. I reckon that the series as a whole is actually perfect holiday reading, coz once you're in you tend to get hooked and then you fly through them pretty swiftly.
The more i hear negative comments regarding the film, the less i'm suprised. I just think it was something that was never going to make a smooth transition to film without escaping laughter and criticism. Some things just really do work best on the page.

Well I think part of it is that people really like making fun of popular and successful things. The movie doesn't seem like it'll be bad, and it's obviously doing extremely well in theaters that they've already signed contracts to do the other three books.
I spent 16 hours reading the first two books and I think they're pretty engaging. The story line is good. They're extremely cheesy which will make the movie an easy target for jokes.

I just saw this on Perez: perezhilton.com/2009-01-26-dakota-fanning-confirms-new-moon-talksApparently Dakota Fanning might be playing the Italian vampire Jane in New Moon. At first I thought that might be weird, but she looks a lot older now and I hardly recognised her anyway. Plus I didn't think Kirsten what's her name was going to be much good as Bella and I was wrong so I trust the movie makers now

I trust no one, ever!!!! I swear, if they ever make BD, who the heck could play Reneesme?! It's a physically impossible role, surely. All i'm curious to see in future films is the Volturi and how that aspect of the universe is reaslised.

Taylor (Jacob) looks so much better with short hair! I've read somewhere that instead of just hearing Edward's voice, Bella will actually see him - guess they had to find a way to put more Rob Pattinson in the movie ;D

I like the new poster! It's simple but it gets to the point, the book is about this weird triangle between Bella and Edward and Bella and Jacob. The colors are nice.
I don't know, it seems like Dakota Fanning just needs to get in any movie and so she's trying to sign into a popular franchise. She hasn't really had a roaring successful career since she's gotten older. But hopefully the movie will be good. I'll see it one way or another.
