I just read The Five People, and I loved it. It was such a clever concept and the charcters seemed so real to me. His writing is so vivid that as I was reading it almost seemed as if a movie version of this book could easily be made. I can't wait to read more of Mitch Albom.

I need to add both Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People You Meet in Heaven to my list. They've both gotten rave reviews.

I know this is an old thread but I read the book not so long ago so...I thought the book was okay, light, and kinda cute. But it made me think about how we influence the lives of others, perhaps without even knowing. It's kinda cool, but kinda scary too...

I've read it recently but I think I've never post on this thread.
I liked the idea of meeting 5 people who influenced your life (or the opposite), and I agree that's a scary thing... Although I think that The Five People You Meet in Heaven is ok, I'm not sure I'd like to read something else by Mitch Albom.

Although I think that The Five People You Meet in Heaven is ok, I'm not sure I'd like to read something else by Mitch Albom. I also thought T5PYMiH was just OK, but I really enjoyed reading "Tuesdays with Morrie", so maybe you should give that one a try, see if your library has it or something. I don't care much for Albom's moral lessons, but I thought Morrie's story was really moving.

I read The Five People You Meet in Heaven right when it came out, and I liked it a lot at the time. However, I think that Mitch needs to branch out and write some different kinds of books - he's already been typecast in my mind as only writing sappy things that he intends to be moving. And I think this "intention" is getting more and more obvious, and getting a little stale and fake. He's a talented writer, and he needs to prove he can do something else. His books even all look the same!
