I read The Secret Life of Bees and The Mermaid Chair last summer. Secret Life of Bees is one of my favorite books, but like a lot of people here, I couldn't make it through the Mermaid Chair. I found it very unbelievable...

I felt like something was just slightly off about the book, but I really enjoyed it none the less.

I thought i'd go through and find some of the books featured in The Book Club Bible and list some of the questions etc. cited for each work. Here goes!
THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES
* There is more than one mother figure in the book - who are they?
* Contextually, do you find it believable that Lily would be allowed to live with the three sisters?
* What problems do you think Lily might face in the future and what aspects of her personality might help her to overcome them?
*Lily's feelings about her mother are complex; how do they chage throughout the book?

Yay! Thanks - i just wanted to contribute something, especially when the book has all these questions listed and so many of the novels are ones featured here.
