Alice Munro was awarded the 2013 Nobel Prize in literature. Have you guys ever read any of her short story collections? I've only read one - The View from Castle Rock - and very much enjoyed it, even though short stories are not my favourite literature genre. As a Canadian, I can't help but be proud of this achievement!

I picked one up - The View from Castle Rock - a long time ago (I think on your recommendation, Isa) but I haven't read it yet.

I never read anything of hers, I never really read short stories actually. Maybe I should though, since I assume you don't get the nobel prize for no reason!

As a Canadian, I can't help but be proud of this achievement! I'd be proud too. I mean, I AM proud of the italian writer who was awarded in 1926! I really liked The View from Castle Rock! We've read it as a book discussion some time ago, haven't we? I also liked Runaway, not as much as The View from Castle Rock but it was a good read. I recently read Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage (I picked it up at library after talking to a friend who is a huge fan of Alice Munro), I liked the writing but it was just ok.
