there was another thread on this but like a lot on this board it was very old. So has anyone here done any online courses? What are your opinions on them as apose to regular learning? In the Uk we have the Open University in which you can start an undergraduate degree and then transfer to a red brick. Last year I took a TEFL (teaching english as a foreign language) course, and to start with it was fun. They had a forum so you could chat with other students. Also you had a tutor who would mark your work in detail. But I did find it very hard, I think you must have utmost concentration and perserverance to study online. I have now signed up for some courses with www.coursera.org/ you can take them with universities accross the world. My first one; Modern & Contemporary American Poetry started today. I have only looked at it briefly so far but it seems really cool. There are live webcast lectures, and you have homework etc. I know at the end you get a certification as well, its only emailed to you and its not like you can use it for entry to anything but its nice to have proof that you have completed it. There are also sites like Udacity and edX which are similar.
