I was wondering how much pleasure reading people/students can fit in during school and exams. Do you still have the desire to read after having read textbooks for an exam?? Just how much does school and exams effect your pleasure reading??
For me, it's kinda funny how my burning desire to pleasure read heightens when studying for exams. However, studying does come first, so I guess, pleasure reading is down to almost none.
How about u guys? Opinions?

I barely have time to read during the school year. Im limited to reading during the bus rides to and from. My desires for pleasure reading are HIGH during the school year, but i dont indulge in it because i have way too much work to do. Exams also make me want to read more (because I try to find anything and everything to procrastinate with haha)

I actually read quite a bit during the school year. I probably read the least in April and May, when I'm usually studying for and taking exams. I'm lucky, because a lot of my assigned reading is quite interesting. We read a lot of Steinbeck, one of my favorite authors.
Plus I only take four classes at a time, so I'm generally not overwhelmed with work. For example, last term I took a math class (maybe 30 minutes worth of work per night), French (easy, I'm good at French), and journalism (just write a few articles per month), and a history/English combo, where I did most of my work (taking notes, reading novels, etc.).

We have exam weeks so it's usually one week when I don't have time for pleasure reading. I have noticed that sometimes I just can't read anything. After an exam week when I have to read at least 100 pages per night I don't have any energy for reading and I need a break for pleasure reading too.
I don't have to read many books for school. It's usually one book per course and last semester I had two mother tongue&literature courses.

I'm studying law. Final semester this semester, thank goodness!! During semester but not exam periods I average about three books per month. During exams I don't pleasure read at all. The main reason for this is law involves a hell of a lot of reading and I'm prone to eye strain during periods of intense study even without pleasure reading, so I usually watch tv instead. I always long for more pleasure reading time though!

It depends on my class load, or rather how difficult the classes are that semester. Semesters that I have a lot of assigned reading, I'll rarely read something for fun just because I'm so overwhelmed with reading. I usually find really short light reads just to put some variety into my days, haha.

I don't usually get to read that much during the school year. I always wish that I could read more but I can't. I just don't ever have time with all the work I have to do. But I take advantage of any free time that I have to read. Even a small amount of time is better than none. I'm going to miss my study hall next year though. I could always read then but now I can't. I have other classes to take instead sadly enough. Hopefully I'll still find time to read though.

I really don't read all that much during the school year. I tend to have a ton of work in my Spanish classes and in some other classes as well. This year might be even tougher though, since I'll be working more and taking 18-21 credit hours. I'm probably crazy for this!

i actually do get a lot of pleasure reading done in the school year mostly because my school encourages pleasure reading you could say? we can pick our own books, read them, and talk about them in english class. i just love that, it gives me a lot of reading time.

Wow that's lucky! We don't really get to choose our own books in English. Luckily, I still usually like all of the books that I get to read. Maybe next year it'll be different with how our books are chosen. That'd be really nice. I really like pleasure reading so I hope things are different. Not that I expect them to be.

I rarely get time for pleasure reading during the school year especially when I have exams to study for and coursework due in. I try to read as much as I can but it still seems to take me forever to finnish a book. This Summer I have been trying to read as much as I can before I go back to school and wont have as much free time available.

I can manage only one or two books a month during the school year. Most of the books I read for pleasure, I read on the train (every Monday and Friday 1,5 hours), I just don't have the time nor the energy to read books after school. I'm always very tired, stressed or overwhelmed, that's what you'll get, if you go to one of the best schools in the country. :\ We don't get to choose our own reading at school for literature, but we get to choose our reading for English and German classes.

Yeah, it takes me a while to read books during the school year too. I hate that I can't read more than I do. Summer is definitely a good time to read though.

I hardly ever have the time to fit in pleasure reading. The funny thing is that i used to be able to. Since my sophmore year started, I've been bombarded with so much work. My desire to read for pleasure gets very high, but I find myself so stressed and tired from all the school work. It makes it harder to get time in to read. But oh goodness, once i do get a chance to FINALLY pick up my book, i dont stop for a long while! But it is sad that the school work is becoming so much
