For me the A&E miniseries is the best one by far. I was really disappointed in the new movie with Keira Knightley - in fact, since the other version was so well done, I still can't understand why they even bothered trying to make a new one. Everything felt wrong: the clothes didn't match the period, the dialogs were rushed, we barely even see Wickham, Darcy was too shy, they tried too hard to justify the mother's behavior and the scene at the end where Elizabeth goes scampering about the country in the middle of the night just made me laugh.

Oh no, this discussion again The A&E version was okay but I love the new movie and everything about it except the alternate ending which was so cheesy!

Yeah, I guess if I hadn't read the novel so many times I might have found the 2005 movie entertaining, just like I still managed to enjoy The Devil Wears Prada. But I basically know P&P by heart so while watching the new movie I too often felt like sitting down with the director and giving him a crash course on Jane Austen and the Regency era

I've only seen the 2005 version. I really enjoyed it.. and Kristie, and really liked Matthew McFayden, so ha. Now I feel like renting the miniseries, and comparing them both.

I've seen half of the mini series, I have it on dvd but I have to sit down and watch the rest of it. From what I've seen I prefer the 2005 version, I can't quite say why I just really loved it. I really liked the Darcy in it too. I'll probably love the series too once I've watched it all though.
Alternate ending? I thought that was the ending lol, I'm really gonna have to watch the rest of the series. What happens differently?

They sort of accidently meet at dawn. It made me laugh because there's no way a young lady back then, even a free spirit such as Elizabeth, would go scampering about the country on her own wearing nothing but a dressing gown!!! If the "real" Darcy had seen her do something like this, he would have run away as fast as his 10,000 pounds a year would allow him

He shows up at Longbourne with Bingley and they all go for walk, and he and Lizzie manage to stay behind the group and that's when he asks her, once again, to marry him. I mean, it might not be as romantic as in the movie, but at least it's believable, you know?

yeah that makes sense, they used all the shots from that scene with the light for their movie poster and the edition of pap with stills from the movie on the cover too.

And the next chapter is just hilarious, when she comes back home and everybody thinks she's gone mad for accepting his proposal!
