Has anyone read this book? If so what did you think? I recently saw the movie version and loved it so I've got my eye out for the book.

Yes I have, I've read it a few times actually because it's a pretty short novel. I think it's a great novel and full deserves all the praise and fame. The story line is good, of course, but you have to dig deeper to get more out of the novel - I love all the Lost Generation books!
Which movie did you see, the old one with Robert Redford?

The great gatsby is amazing. I really thought it was overrated until I read it myself. Plus the movie with Robert Redford is great. I watched it with my mum on tv :-)

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you guys. I didn't really like it, but it was definitely better than some I've chosen/had to read for school.

I love the Great Gatsby. Have you read Tender is the Night? It's also pretty good.

I enjoyed his short stories. The curious case of Benjamin Button was pretty interesting.Haven´t read tender is the night, though.

I've read This Side of Paradise and liked it a lot, though not as much as The Great Gatsby. Tender is the Night is the one he wrote about his wife's mental illness, right?

I really enjoyed the Great Gatsby. It was short, and very good. Simple language

i had to read it in school and hated it but my friend candice loves that book so she convinced me to read it again and the second time i think it was amazing. i think i liked it more the second time cause it wasn't for an assignment and i wasn't concentrating on the school part as much as i was just reading it because i was told it was good

I read it for school too, which may be a factor as to why I don't like it. I just didn't like the characters...it seemed like a soap opera gone horribly wrong (not that they're good to begin with)

It definitely has some of the makings of a horrible soap opera but its still a classic American novel and story. Reading books for school cane sometimes ruin a book at least for me but i don't know I thought Gatsby was a really cool Character... Its too bad you didn;t like it though

There are few books I dislike, but it was just one of them. Funny thing is, the books I tend not to like are really popular with other people. Like Gatsby and Catcher in the Rye.
