It's all very silly! But I have a feeling he's said that to increase publicity for the book and for himself. It will get a lot more publicity with this paradox of a guy authoring a book but bagging out books. But maybe that's just me being cynical

Hah, I had no idea this thread would get such a response.
I agree with all of you, but mostly I think it's very sad that anyone would feel that way. I understand when people don't have the time to read, or maybe just haven't found a book that they love yet and are convinced that they don't like to read, but to claim to hate it is just weird.

Yet another reason why I'm not too fond of Kanye West. He sounds like such an arrogant, self-righteous idiot! And what really gets me is that so many people are influenced by him!

I just can't believe this article. I agree with those of you who say he's pretty arrogant in this interview. Perhaps he dislikes reading because his mother, as an English prof, pushed reading on him too much? I guess that's trying to find a better reason than that he simply doesn't like it. But if you put his song lyrics in a book, it's like a book of poetry! How can your life revolve around words and you not like them?!
I agree most definitely that his proclamation as a non-reader will not help the youth today...Thanks for all the help in letting our kids soak up information and have imaginations, Kanye!
