Here are my thoughts: the guy's obviously an idiot! Agree. I had the impression he meant that readers can't think for themselves...weird.

Yeah, and we can see how far not reading has led him judging by the "profoundness" of what he's written ;D

His book doesn't exactly sound like the great American novel, I mean 52 pages, and some of them blank?

If it sells, it's only because it's got his name on the cover...

My favorite part:
"Sometimes people write novels and they just be so wordy and so self-absorbed," West said. "I am not a fan of books. I would never want a book's autograph. (emphasis added)

How the heck do you get a book's autograph?!? Yeah, I want one! His position is pretty strange considering songwriting is literature. And really, what a way to promote a "book"! His is probably going to end up in the 2,99 pile after a year or two.

How the heck do you get a book's autograph?!? I think that's his argument. You get autographs from cool people. Books can't give autographs. Therefore they are not cool (or should I say fly). Apparently he never learned basic logic.

Yeah, an "interesting" logic. My favorite part: "Sometimes people write novels and they just be so wordy and so self-absorbed," West said. "I am not a fan of books. I would never want a book's autograph. (emphasis added) A book consisting of words...how weird! ;D

The fact that his mother was a professor of English is what really blows my mind. How can you be an English professor and raise a son who obviously has never had a lesson in grammar.
He's just so conceited in this interview. UGGHH

I don't care if a person doesn't like to read but there'e no need to shoot one's mouth off about it. He obviously has a big influence on alot of children and so him saying such things will not help the problems surrounding youth and non-reading.

At least we have Harry Potter to balance it out.

Not to mention Twilight I was in a wedding a couple of weeks ago, and this 12 year old kid just seemed totally bored with the entire thing so he hid in corner with a Twilight. I was like "aaawh, that's exactly what my kid is gonna be like!"
