Finished The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood the other day. LOVED IT!! I really want to read that one, but I want to get to Oryx and Crake first. I finished The Vanishing of Katharina Linden by Helen Grant, which is a new release. It's set in a small German town in 1999 and told from the perspective of Pia, a 10-year-old girl. Another little girl goes missing in the town and Pia is the last one to see her alive. I really enjoyed it, it's a mystery with a great touch to the very end of it. I seem to really enjoy adult books written from a child's perspective.

I finished Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella. A quick and light read for me, trying something different seeing as I lost my reading mojo for a while! But I think I fortunately got it back now!

I just finished The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir. It was interesting and well written but I don't think I will read the whole book one more time.

"Ni d'Eve, Ni d'Adam" by Amelie Nothomb, it was such a fun read! And a great way to learn about Japanese culture at the same time.

I finished Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert on Monday. I loved it! I got kind of bored with the part about India, but my favourite was Italy. I really want to go there someday! Now I can't wait for the movie to come out in South Africa. Only 2 more weeks!

I finished Die Mittagsfrau (The Blind Side of the Heart) by Julia Franck. It's a great book that follows a woman's life during the two world wars.

Just finished Henry James: The Young Master by Sheldon M. Novick, a biography for my thesis. What's the topic of your thesis, Hanna? That's a good question, Isa! I haven't really gotten a title yet, but I am reading three novels of fictional biography based on Henry James (The Master, Author Author and The Typewriter's Tale) and looking at what aspects of HJ's life the three authors emphasizes, and comparing it to biographies and to works of HJ himself. So it will become sort of like a discussion on biography versus fictional biography, I guess, but with HJ as a very prominent example. Did that make sense? Oh, and I just finished The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck - which I liked a lot.
