*hangs head in embarassment* A sensible, mature and common sense reply always leaves me feeling foolish for my rants. I'm just too serious and easily angered on this topic - i always take it to the extreme and over-react. Sigh! I am very curious though to see how many aspects of this book are going to be filmed, if they will be included. For example, how often shall younger versions of Clare feature as oppossed to just Rachel? (though i know she can easily pass for younger than she is, and with makeup older is easy to do also) I just wonder how much proper past time travel will be presented, coz a good deal of the beginnings of Henry's experiences and Clare's interactions with him don't directly serve the romance, so will they be played down or worse, ignored??? Worrying.... And will the filmmakers be willing to give weight and time to supporting players or will the focus just sitck on the two lovers?? Ok, i'm really beginning to be concerned now... but time will tell.

Actually, Neh, the whole sex thing also bothered me in that novel. I usually have no problem with reading about sex, I've even read a few erotica novels to see what it was all about, but in the case of The Time Traveler's Wife, I didn't like the way it was portrayed at all, and to a certain extent I liked the novel a little less because of it. I didn't like the fact that it came back every 3 pages or so, and I didn't find it romantic or sexy, it just got annoying. I understand that in the novel, it's a physical need Henry has and it helps him stay in the present, but I could have figured it out even without the constant reminder.
For the movie, I'm thinking they'll probably get another actress to play young Clare, that's what would make the most sense. They can't delete these early episodes from the movie, they're just too important to the story (but then again, I guess it wouldn't be the first time a movie adaptation goes wrong). Secondary characters will probably be included in the movie, but I doubt they'll get much air time...

Thanks Jefie - you worded it much better than i could! It does come up *no pun intended, hehe* over and over again and while you've reminded me of the point i had actually forgotten - that sex is one of the things that keeps Henry in the present - it just gets to the point where i'm wondering "couldn't they find somehting else to do??" And yes, i hope they choose a strong child actress for little Clare and give her some adequate scenes, or a good deal of the story is diminished for me... and dare i say, a good portion of the love story is lost, coz for Clare it started way back then, and for Henry too, coz he knew what was coming.

I finished reading it a while ago. Honestly, I think the main idea of the book was pretty awesome (and I'm not a fantasy fan), and I enjoyed reading it very much, but something particular was bothering me about the story itself. I agree with what Jefie said about the whole sex scenes. There were definitely too many. I think Niffengger didn't make the most out of it though.
Well I recommend reading this book either way.

Have any of you seen the new show Journeyman? It has a similar idea - uncontrollable time travel. It's interesting. I got sucked in after Heroes on Monday.

Hmmm.... i'd love to see it but it's not playing over here (gosh darn1) Actually, almost everytime i watch a Doctor Who episode now, i think of it in terms of which themes relate to TTW!

I thought i'd go through and find some of the books featured in The Book Club Bible and list some of the questions etc. cited for each work. Here goes!
TIME TRAVELLER'S WIFE
* Do you think Clare's character is defined only by her relationship to Henry?
* How sucessful is Niffenegger in capturing her characters' fluctuating ages through their narration?
* Is time-travelling ultimately seen as a blessing or a curse?
*Can Henry and Clare do anything to change their fate?
