We should see how many books we have read that are on our list

I don't have time to list the ones I've read but it's a great list.

You shouldn't feel stupid at all, like I said before, I'm not sure what the basis is for that list of 1001 books. Some really great books were left out, while some dubious ones appear on the list, so...

Many books on the list seem like odd choices. I think while reading some of them you may wish to die so you donĀ“t have to suffer anymore

I have never heard of some of those books before seeing the list, mostly the ones in the first pages. And it's true that there are odd choices on it, altough I'm generally a fan of book lists.

the reason I read most of them was because I took literature in college and university.

I will go through and count how many i've read later tonight but one thing i can say to all those who own the book: has anyone else noticed how many sensationalist novels - The Monk, Justine etc. - there are in the chapters for the 1500's-1800's especially? So many sexually graphic or violently explicit works are included. I don't dissaprove - and i love the book itself, it's so handy to have! - i just find it interesting.

Agreed. I mean, they left out Anne! (i kid you not - if Little Women can be in there, why not Anne?!) Ugh. I'm pathetic. I think i've only read about 22 of them! *hangs head in shame* I have a loooooonnnng way to go!

I have to admit that there are some works by italian authors, which I'd never expect to be considered as books to read before die..
