Sign language, that's really interesting, Hanna! Yeah and that's why Italian people usually think that they already know Spanish...when I used to study Spanish there were lots of funny scenes with people doing a strange mix between the two languages lol, do you mean people who think they can speak spanish adding a "s" at the end of italian words?? I don't know spanish but I'd like to learn it.

I wish there was an international sign language. Like we have American Sign Language here. But sign language would have been the easiest thing to make international. Yes, I know alphabets are different. But you don't spell everything in sign language. I think it would be cool if every country in the world had the same signs for dog or cat, etc.

There weren't lots of them in my classes at uni...especially at the beginning!I think that the problem is that to an Italian speaker Spanish sounds quite easy to understand, at the beginning at least...but speaking it correctly is another matter!I started it in secondary school as an optional subject and many of my schoolmates were actually disappointed when they discovered that it was not so easy as it seemed! But it is a lovely language, I wish I would have the chance of practicing it more, I'm so afraid to "lose"it in time if I don't use it!

I am going to learn Swedish at uni. I applied for an internship there, so it might be helpful to know some words and phrases at least.

German is my mothertongue, but I also speak English and French. I'm taking an Italian class at uni at the moment, which I really enjoy. I think it's such a beautiful language. I will definitely carry on with learning it, after I'm done with uni in summer. Another language I'm really interested in is Macedonian, since it's my boyfriend's mothertongue. Unfortunately, he cannot teach me, because he didn't go to school there, and therefore can't explain the grammar to me :-( Well, for now Italian comes first, otherwise I'll just mix up the languages :-D

I'm really lucky, because my Italian class counts only 4 people, so this is an extremely intense kind of learning. Hopefully your German class will take place! In my opinion German is a very difficult language to learn, and I think it's great that you have so much interest in it

I don't think Italian is an easy language either, but it's easier to learn in a small class.

I'm thinking of taking classes for Ancient Greek next semester. Has anyone here ever tried that? I'd also like to improve my Italian but I'm afraid it wouldn't be very effective to take too many classes for different languages, especially ones I've just started learning. It gets too chaotic in my head. ^^
