Hi everyone, What's a book you would recommend as a gift to my brother for his upcoming 15th birthday. I'm a bit clueless as to what guys that age would like. Can't be Harry Potter, LOTR or Da vinci code. Thanks

If he liked The DaVinci Code, you could give him Angels & Demons by Dan Brown.

That´s a tough one. My brother hates reading. We´re stereotypes How about Eragon? I think the main character is around that age. It´s the first of the inheritance series. Haven´t read it so I´m only guessing but a lot of people really liked it.

What are your brothers tastes in say music? or sports? or cars? Try to think of something that he already likes and would be interesting to learn more about. If he likes a certain band or decade of music you could get him a book about that. Or say he likes baseball, basketball, or football and has a favorite team. You may be able to find a book that way. Just throwing ideas out there As for a specific book I'm drawing a blank.

The eragon one sounds good. The Angels and Demons I think we probably have somewhere in the house, he lost interest in the Da Vinci code anyway. I don't really know his set interests, he spends a lot of time playing video games but he will read if he finds something he likes so the idea is to kind of draw him away from the playstation etc. I haven't heard of some of the other books you guys have mentioned, but I will look out for them at the store. I was also thinking maybe Fight Club? He liked the movie, I haven't read the book so I dunno what it's like. My boyfriend suggested Minority Report cos it's sci fi and action so it might get him in. Any more suggestions?

Fight Club is a good idea, how about Clockwork Orange or something by Isaac Azimov? You could get him started on the robot or foundation series.

I think that Kite Runner could be a good one, but I don't know how much he would like it since he's younger. He may get a little bored with it. I think that Idlewild is a really good book and its main character/narrator is a teenage male. It's sci-fi, but not the geeky kind.

Fight Club is really good idea. I read it last year and I really liked it. Its similar to the movie, but still full of new things.

I totally was going to recommend Fight Club, yet I've never read it. So I didn't want to reccomend something which I haven't read. However, all my younger friends say Chuck Palhunik is a great writer and for a lot of them their favorite author. So anything Chuck Palhunik would be a quality gift IMO If he is into science fiction you could get him "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglass Adams. I read it when I was that age and I think it would be appropriate for his age. It's an excellent book if you can get interested in it.

sorry this is a bit late for your mall trip, but I really enjoyed "The Other Boleyn Girl" by Phillipa Gregory if you haven't already read it. Theres a movie in the making too with Scarlet Johannson (sp?) and Natalie Portman, or so neh informs me.
