A Man Without a Country by Kurt Vonnegut - it went straight to the top of my TBR pile! Such a wonderful book! I absolutely agree with zelda!

I'm about halfway through (not a very long book) and I'm absolutely loving it so far - couldn't put it down last night so I went to bed way too late!

I think I should try Hemingway again if you like a moveable feast so much, Jefie I´m still reading "the age of innocence" which I really enjoy. It´s very different from Ethan Frome although I can see it all going downhill soon enough. I keep telling the characters not to do things but they won´t listen I like how funny Wharton writes, I keep chuckling which seems to scare people!

Hannah, what is it about. Seems really intense. You know you'll get massive frown lines and a hunch-back. I've read The Tenent of Wildfell Hall. I really liked it. It's not as up to par as Wuthering Heights, but it's still good

I'm glad that you read some Anne Bronte sagedautumn; poor kid, being the most ignored of the sisters, literary-wise. And Dorothy - i'm not sure about you but i hear Edith Wharton and i think immediately of (well, Vile Bodies first, but then) a quote from GG season one, when Emily throws Rory her 16th b'day party and asks Lorelei what she thinks of the room, to which Lor responds "I think Edith Wharton would have been proud, and busy taking notes!" hehehe....

Dorothy, I've been wanting to read The Age of Innocence. I'm going to start reading several classics after Harry Potter 7 this summer, and that's high on the list. I also really want to read the new bio of Edith Wharton, by Hermione Lee.

My only Edith Wharton is Ethan Frome, I really need to read more by her.

I´m always so proud when I get the popculture hints in GG! The age of innocence is only my second Wharton so don´t feel bad, Lu! I´m glad you like the house of mirth so much, sagedautumn. I plan on reading it soon. And I´ve also heard of the new biography so it´s on my list I´m still reading the age of innocence but I got distracted by Hemingway. Stumbled upon a movable feast in the library today and started it earlier while waiting for the bus. And it´s all Jefie´s and Lu´s fault for raving about it

I've finished the end of the first section of Reading Lolita in Tehran for the book club and I can't wait to discuss it! It seems like it's going to be such a great book. I have to try not to go on to the next section until it gets closer to the time we start discussion on it though because I find with the book club I always read ahead and then forget all the little details for when the time comes to discuss it! I will have to pick up another book to juggle at the same time.
