And as most of you probably know, there was a huge battle in Quebec City between the troops of France and England when they were fighting over who would get Canada - here's a pic I took in the old city, that tree and that cannon ball have been there for about 250 years

wow I love all of those isa that photo of quebec really does look like another planet, the deer is so cute and the cannonball is pretty amazing.

That really is extraordinary! I'm a big HISTORY BUFF so seeing those kind of pics just amaze me!! Do u know how that canonball got into that tree like that?? Can ppl get it out or is it preserved into a monument of sorts?

Can ppl get it out or is it preserved into a monument of sorts? I'm not sure, thousands of cannonballs were fired during that battle and I guess one landed in a tree but did not kill it, so the tree just grew around it. I don't think anyone has every tried to get it out (I doubt they'd be able to) and there's no sign pointing to it or anything, I just happened to notice it as I was walking in the old city one day. Cool, huh?

Yes, they're so great! My friend's dad is about to publish a book on the mathematics behind these drawings - it takes away some of the artistic magic, but it's interesting to see the way he figured out how it works.
